  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Famed feminist website Jezebel paid witches on Etsy to curse Charlie Kirk — 2 days before he was assassinated

None of which means anything to me personally. Sin is a reminder of our weaknesses and not a flex. Publishing books on witchcraft is an unfortunate reminder of the lives you’ll impact due to your waywardness. I wouldn’t be proud of that and it’s genuinely strange to hear someone speak like this. Most people who‘ve walked similar roads don’t glory in their accolades. They give more attention to its rejection and change of heart. Perhaps others may find it remarkable but to my ear it sounds you need deliverance. To each his own.

Well, lucky for us both your ear and good opinion is not required for me personally or for my faith, so opinion noted, filed in the appropriate receptacles, and off with life I go exactly as I did before. Somebody asked how I knew, I answered. That's not a flex nor a glory in an accolade, it's a statement of fact, requested by another person. Again, I'm not going to pretend I'm less knowledgeable on a subject to make somebody else feel better because they don't understand something, and their judgment for not doing so is just whatever. Says more about them than it does about me.

If you go to the relevant webpage on Jezebel now, you will find the original piece has been taken down and replaced with an apology “on the recommendation of our lawyers,” although the editors do emphasize that it “was intended as satire and made it absolutely clear that we wished no physical harm.” Although certain aspects of the apology do read almost like a joke (“we want to make clear that we prioritize an end to violence over anyone wanting to read about Etsy witches”), it does seem obvious that the piece itself was just intended as a piece of what the writer thought would have been harmless humor.

Feminist website Jezebel boasted that a reporter paid witches on Etsy to “curse” MAGA conservative influencer Charlie Kirk two days before he was assassinated in Utah — with the publication later forced to add an editor’s note condemning the heinous act of violence.

The unsettling article ripped the Turning Point USA founder before recounting how the unnamed reporter forked over cash for “multiple curses” on him — and expressed panic that the spells hadn’t worked.

“Are you interested in punishing Kirk for the years of regressive rhetoric he’s shouted at America’s youth and anyone within earshot?” the disturbing article read.

Continued below.

Charlie Kirk died because he attacked the fundamentals of a power culture that is global in its reach and corruption. He was killed by a bullet from a pawn of that culture, a man with evil motives, not by a witch.

The bible says an undeserved curse does not come to rest (Prov 26:2). The grounds on which a feminist website like Jezebel would try to curse would probably focus on his opposition to abortion, his convictions about gender identity, feminist quotas, and various emasculating diatribes against male headship. Since these are all unrighteous lies, their curse would have no power and would more likely fall back on themselves.

There is no historical example of a successful curse on a martyr. Maybe Harry Potter has warped the culture a little regarding the use of magic against those who are not vulnerable to it.

So what Jezebel and the witches instead reveal is the corrupted state of their hearts and their vulnerability to the same anger that they called down on a righteous man. They have publicly confirmed their endorsement and affirmation of his murder, but were not the efficient cause of that.

I never said they were. I did say earlier it showed the condition of their hearts.
