  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you support the Executive Branch, via the FCC, controlling political speech on our airways? Imagine the reaction if President Obama had ordered FOX News to drop Sean Hannity....or else?
The "or else" is " you won't get FCC approval of your merger."

What did Hannity say about an assassination victim right after they were murdered?

What did Hannity say about an assassination victim right after they were murdered?
The same thing that Jimmy Kimmel did. That is to say, nothing. Kimmel's "incendiary" comments were a combination of being wrong about the killer's politics and saying that Republicans were going to milk Kirk's death for all it was worth (which...*gestures at the comments on this forum*).

However, the FCC chair's position on Kimmel is that his "misleading" statements were "not in the public interest," and that is why he should be fined or taken off the air - not because he said mean things about Charlie Kirk. And, considering that Fox News acknowledged that Hannity said untrue political things on the air in relation to the 2020 election (there was a whole lawsuit about it), I would hope that you can agree that Hannity - by the same standard - would not be furthering the public interest.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say? Do you even know exactly what got him fired by FCC pressure?

[edit. looks like youve been told just above]

What did Hannity say about an assassination victim right after they were murdered?

Does it count if the assassination attempt was unsuccessful and the victim was merely injured and not killed?

Because Hannity was part of the crowd sowing skepticism about Paul Pelosi's role in his attack:

David DePape was charged with assault, not attempted murder.

Kimmel made a comedy routine out of the tragic murder of a young man with two small children, like it was supposed to be funny. Zero respect. Zero compassion. Just malice.

ok, failed kidnapping and assault, rather than assassination. Though, hitting somebody over the head with a hammer certainly could have killed them.

I'm thinking your pedantry is not in service of accuracy, but deflection.

The straw-grasping whataboutism you're repeating is the deflection.

MAGA version...

The attack on Paul Pelosi was terrifying. A man broke into the house of the 82-year-old husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the middle of the night and hit him with a hammer. Paul Pelosi suffered a fractured skull among other injuries. The intruder shouted, “where’s Nancy?”

Donald Trump Jr. appears to thinks it’s funny.

Late Sunday night, Trump Jr. shared an image on social media of a hammer and a pair of underwear with the words “Got my Paul Pelosi Halloween costume ready.” Trump Jr. wrote: “The Internet remains undefeated.” (Sidebar: I’m not going to share a link to Trump Jr.’s post. You can find it on the internet if you so choose.)

But Paul Pelosi wasn't the sort to envy and slander more accomplished people because of their race. And he survived his attacker, who was a right-wing terrorist, not a mentally-ill kid. So it's not exactly the same.

And yes, I know that Robinson might still have been used by more extreme groups who hated Kirk.

Brian Kilmede apologized for what he blurted out, unlike Jimmy Kimmel who has refused to apologize for his scripted rehearsed mocking and joking about the brutal calculated murder of a young man.
What did Kimmel specifically say that matches your above description?

Again, no he didn't. At this point, I have to wonder if you're trolling, because the only other alternatives are that you haven't actually watched the bit (and are just repeating what others have told you) - and I'd like to think you're smarter than that - or you're just flat-out lying.

What did Kimmel specifically say that matches your above description?
"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. You can see how hard the president is taking this. My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. May I ask, sir, personally, how are you holding up over the last day and a half, sir? Yes. He's at the fourth stage of grief, construction."

Mocking and joking. Not showing the least bit of respect or compassion. It was a scripted stand up routine of vile spite designed to get applause and laughter from the oh so empathetic and compassionate left, which it did.

But, but, whatabout.....
