  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Senate confirms 48 of Trump's nominees at once after changing the chamber's rules

Democrats have blocked more nominees than ever before as they have struggled to find ways to oppose Trump and the GOP-dominated Congress, and as their voters have pushed them to fight Republicans at every turn. It’s the first time in recent history that the minority party hasn’t allowed at least some quick confirmations.

By not allowing even some quick confirmations the Democrats made their obstructionism as obvious as could be. Thus I feel the Republicans took the correct step.

The right step? Sen Manchin deliberately opposed the democrats because he abhorred the nuclear option also known as the rule change that allows a simple majority to decide. So America will go further into partisianship because the dems too will remove this rule. Seems very short-sighted and disappointing to me. So now we nuked the dems, and one day they will nuke the GOP.

I agree!
The democrats are not for what's best for America or We the People!!
Fighting everything Trump does, but then getting on republicans case for fighting some things the democrats try to push through in the last 4 yrs, just shows more of their hypocrisy than anything..

Unless the dems are removed.
True, but unless Jesus returns soon, all political movements die out. The only thing worse than the two party system is a one party system. I admit though if the dems dont realign to the center, they may suffer some more. I think the same needs to be said of the GOP too. Vigilante justice on the high seas to tariffs are not moderate or even Christian policies. Trump's support is tanking in polls.

Never said they weren't.
I said they are not for what's best for America and We the People.
The classic democrat of past times seemed more so than the current day ones.

OK. Then you phrased them being against their own self interest in an odd fashion.

Well, since they are in America and reject a lot of American things at times, they sort of are against themselves given they live here.

Perhaps they have a different opinion on what constitutes American things.

Of course they do, even if it's wrong 90% of the time.

Too bad.
If I live in another country I must learn to adapt to the way their country is and has been. I wouldn't be so arrogant to think that they should adapt to my ideas. If I don't like the way that other country is, I need to move to one that suits my ideas.
If they don't like it here, they are welcome to move

I would assume most Democrats are born in this country. Telling them they must conform your idea of what America is or leave strikes me as being anti American. Are you going to leave now that we disagree?

Telling the rest of us to conform to their ideas of what America should be strikes me as being anti American.

Do you lean Left or Right politically?

Unlike your suggestion that people should emigrate if they disagree with policy?

Yet they do not tell you that you must conform or should migrate.
Do you lean Left or Right politically?
Why is that relevant?

If they don't like it here, they are free to move to a country that fits their policy ideas.
America was here long before any of us. It has it's ideas just like any other country has it's own.
though no country is perfect, they each have their own ways, culture, policies.
If some don't like it here, they can go elsewhere or adapt to America.
I would do that if I went to another country. I wouldn't expect that country to change for me or my ideas.

"Yet they do not tell you that you must conform or should migrate."
LOL.

"Why is that relevant?"
Why is it hard to answer? This is a forum that talks about politics, not recipes. Asking you whether you lean Left or Right is inline with the forum and its overall topics.
