  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

(Nerdy voice) Well technically, he never actually called Republicans 'Nazis,' he only compared them to Nazis on more than one occasion. So he is obviously telling the truth.

Just getting that out there because I already know where this thread is going. So I thought I would save everyone the time.

He's not even comparing Republicans to Nazis. He's talking about Trump, the Trump administration, and neo-Nazis in those clips.

Do you agree that there's a difference between these two statements?

1. Republicans are Nazis!

2. These specific people (who happen to be Republicans), are doing these specific things that look a lot like these other specific things that the Nazis did.

Nuance. I'm being told that Charlie Kirk didn't call all Black women low IQ people who lacked brain processing power, he was talking about specific individuals. To say otherwise is dishonest and deliberately taking his words out of context for a specific narrative and twisting them. I'm assuming the same nuance applies here.

Closing the door on inconvenient truths is good tactic for peace of mind.
Sure. Tyler Robinson did a good job closing the door on inconvenient truths, and the left celebrated it.

This is an important time in our country. We need transparency in government and people like Pritzker need to be called out and held accountable. The violent rhetoric needs to stop.
Pfft.

Why? Trump is never held accountable.

But he was implying that because they were black, they didn't have the abilities to get where they are. Yes he was referring to these SPECIFIC black women THAT time, but he has FREQUENTLY suggested that any black person should have their capacity questioned because there is NO way they could be good enough to do that job.

They made up charges against Trump, a judge gave an outrageous valuation on Mar-a-lago that anyone with a quick look on Zillow could see was bonkers, they threw out a statute of limitations, changed a misdemeanor to a felony, implemented a gag order so as to interfere with his campaign for presidency, raided his residence with force and pawed through his wife and son's personal belongings. There were two assassination attempts against his life, he was impeached and impeached again even after he left office. The man and his family have been persecuted and slandered. He was the victim of numerous hoaxes.

I agree. We're making the same point. I think the sarcasm of my last sentence was too subtle.

Obviously. Almost a third of them identify as left or left leaning. Only 7% on the entire right.
And it works for you.

I mean, in a thread about who calls who Nazis, where the target of the thread didnt even do it, the VPs "American Hitler" language rates a big yawn?

I'm detecting a lot of politics and not much principle.
