No, the Magadonians run the FCC and some of the blocks of ABC affiliates that air his show. The CEO of NextStar (largest tv station owner in the country), Perry Sook, while not being as political as some has donated almost exclusively to Republicans.

The second-largest owner of tv stations in the country, Sinclair Broadcasting, came out strenuously against Kimmel and are very very much in the Magadonian camp. They're hq'ed in Baltimore County, so they pop up in my feeds a lot.

What doesn't deserve to be canceled is political opinions or moral stances that do not encourage or celebrate murder, terrorism or political violence.

That's great, because Kimmel's comments didn't celebrate murder. They were about Republicans and Trump, not Kirk. Prior to this show, he'd condemned the murder and expressed condolences to the family.

We thank you for teaching it to us. Now it belongs to us.

Well, Nextar and Sinclair saying that they wouldn't be carrying The Tonight Show anymore certainly didn't help the ratings situation.

And it looks mighty suspicious when the chairman of the FCC says:

We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.

And then hours later, the show gets cancelled.
