They just do it in a way that seems more normal and acceptable to you, such that you don't really notice it.

I was having a conversation about this self identification as normal with an old friend at a reunion weekend we had in Leeds over the weekend. He was sadly incapable of recognising anything that was not his way as normal.

He grew up, lives and works in a tiny little middle class (UK version not American) village and didn’t seem to be able to adjust to night time streets of a small UK city.

His tiny little village to him is normal and the big city is not. I hope I was able to reach him.

One big difference is that normal people (those who accept the sex they are born as) don't claim it as "who they are", and base their arguments and politics around it.

They used to say that about black people, too. Can you guess the connection?

When transsexuals engage in mass shootings and assassinations, it is based on "who they are" as transsexuals, or the partner of such people and therefore part of that group.

When white supremacists engage in mass shootings, it is based on "who they are" as white supremacists or the partner of such people. Only white supremacists do it a lot more often. Just saying.

All while claiming they just want to be left alone in the privacy of their own bedroom.

I'd be fine with that too. And I'd be fine with white supremacists being what they are, so long as they don't bother anyone else. So we seem to be on the same page in that respect. Those who do attack others should be punished just like any other criminal. Those who don't should just be left alone.

Yeah, it's annoying to see those guys riding round with confederate or Nazi flags, and so on. But they have the right.

Well, let's see. How many drag queens have been arrested for molesting kids? How many otherwise straight people?

For the far right, I get it the real fear. These guys are reading books to innocent kids. And those far right guys know what happens to kids if they grow up with a habit of reading books. Their recruiting pool is people who don't read. That's the "grooming" they fear.

How can she be called a liar? There would be no basis for it. People would need to know if her FB posts are congruent with her testimony.

But what CAN be stated, are facts.

Fundamentally, the only statements of fact that she made (at least as reported by Fox in the article you linked) are that he started caring more about gay and trans rights, that he expressed a strong dislike of Kirk, and that he fought with his father over political disagreements. Her claim that this made him "left-leaning" is her opinion.

As someone who worked with "groomers", it's not grooming kids.

I've only seen one drag event at our library...it's not really my thing though I don't care about others doing it (in the same way I don't LARP or go to Ren faires)

What depravity did I see?
A man dressed garishly as a woman, reading a book about colours to some children.

I have always been very VERY curious. What are the PRECISE behaviours that are considered "grooming" in this context?

a) Just talking about it at all?
b) Normalizing it?
c) Encouraging it?
d) Are they raping or abusing kids at these events?
e) Are parents endangering their kids by going to these events? BEcause unfortunately, statistically libraries are way way way way way safer than churches.
