  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) revived her calls for a “national divorce” on Monday, ominously warning that the American right and left have “nothing left to talk about.”

Greene sparked controversy in February of 2023, when she wrote on X, “We need a national divorce.”
“We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s [sic] traitorous America Last policies, we are done,” Greene added.
I'm not against this in a way. Why should I have to give my taxes to Republicans, When they want nothing to with Democrat ,except when it comes to money . What should happen, is all Democrats support Democrats people only . And red states take care of them selves .Except for the Democrats in Red States. problem solved.

She needs to look in the mirror and realize the many failures and atrocities of the alt- right. There is already a MAGA turf war and they will devour each other.
Love has certainly grown cold.

I suggest splitting by the 2024 election results, by county.

I’m not wholly against separation as a concept and there are instances when continuance is hard and parting ways is best. Whether we’ve reached that point in our country is the question. Where does that leave independents and those who’ve opted out of the political circus? And will it end there or will racial segregation follow suit?

And what about christians? Where will they go? Will the church divide as well?

I hope that, despite our differences and disagreements—which at times unfortunately escalate to violence—there are more Americans who seek unity. While we as Americans are not without flaws, our nation's achievements over the past 250 years have stemmed from our diversity of thought and background. My sincere wish is that there are not enough citizens on either side who would seek to divide this great nation. Ultimately, I believe our shared values will prevail.

Isn’t the more blueular the state a rough indication of it’s relative economic strength?
A few weeks ago, I was having lunch with several colleagues. One colleague identify as MAGA commented, "I wish California would leave the USA." I responded by noting that California's GDP is higher than the combined GDP of over twenty states. The colleague replied, "So what?"

Some Americans watch cable TV around the clock and absorb extreme ideologies, losing touch with common sense or reality. Both sides view everything through a narrow political lens.

I'm sure the red counties will do a lot better without the blue counties holding them back.

Yep lots of very wealthy people and a huge amount of capitalism = Democrats.
There have been shifts in American politics over the past thirty years.

Historically, Republicans were associated with holding the majority of wealth in the United States. However, the notion that Republicans primarily represent affluent individuals and advocate for tax cuts has become outdated. Republican policy and ideology is still the same, but the demography has changed. Today, the wealthiest congressional districts are predominantly Democratic; 40 out of the 50 most affluent and wealthiest districts are represented by Democrats. Conversely, the majority of states with the lowest income levels tend to be Republican.

In 2020, President Biden won counties that together accounted for 70% of U.S. GDP, while Clinton previously won counties representing 66% of GDP. However, the economic policy of the Democratic Party remains unchanged.

Although demographics have shifted, economic policies remain unchanged. GOP tax cuts and trickle-down economics mainly benefit Blue districts and Democrats, while Democratic welfare and government programs often help rural Americans, who predominantly vote Red.

Plenty of poor people in big cities, too.

No they're where the ordinary people live.
That says nothing about the economic system where they live. But earlier you implied that they reject capitalism. Im just following up on that.

Why do you hate capitalism?
As a lifelong conservative who voted for Reagan and both Bush presidents, and who has supported capitalism, free market principles, globalization, and free trade, I have observed significant changes in American conservatism under the influence of Trumpism. Voters who previously supported every Republican candidate from Ronald Reagan to Mitt Romney now tend to oppose free trade, the free market and globalization.

It is worth considering whether voters who supported candidates from Reagan through Mitt Romney were fully aware of the Republican Party's policies over the past fifty years, or if they consistently voted along party lines due to negative perceptions of Democrats. Given that the economic policies advocated by Reagan, Bush, and Romney differ significantly from those promoted by President Trump, it is difficult to reconcile support for both sets of ideologies, which in many respects are contradictory.
