  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kirk also said this in the same segment.

"I'm not qualifying it. I think it's awful. It's not right. But why is it that in Chicago you're able to commit murder and be out the next day? Why is it that you're able to trespass, second-degree murder, arson, threaten a public official, cashless bail — this happens all over San Francisco."

He was referring to a system thats lets people out all the time for equally bad crimes on a cashless bail, but not if you go after the Pelosi’s.

No where in his podcast did he ever do what you claimed when you said, "He praised Pelosi's attacker. He was fine with using a hammer."

1. He didn't praise Pelosi’s attacker.
2. He didn't say he was fine with him using a hammer.

His point in context was about the inconsistency with the legal system.
There are many honest reporters coming out now saying how people are snipping things out of context including the questions he was answering. There was an hour program on it last night.

The fact that someone wrote a book called Understanding the Transgender Far Right kind of makes my point for me, doesn't it?
If your point was 'there are a number of trans people with right leaning views', then...yes.

Yes, the common tactic I've seen used is to take times where he's using certain ironic rhetorical devices as a defense to the types of questioning along the lines of
"Well Bible verse X says such & such, so that's why Christians should be in support of <insert progressive cause here>" to which he'd commonly bring up another verse in the bible which he knows they absolutely wouldn't support.

It's a debate tactic I've used (and I'm not even a Christian)
When I've heard progressives hand-pick certain verses to support certain policy initiatives, I've snapped back with "the Bible also says that women aren't allowed to lead, so we should be following that rule too, right???"

The position of "women aren't allowed to lead men" is by no means my personal position...however, it would sure seem that way if an outlet only mentioned the second part of that exchange without acknowledging the thing I was replying to or the broader context of the conversation.

I already did. What rdkirk is saying is that if there's a debate over the existence of leprechauns, and someone demolishes that notion with truth, there are people who will still insist that leprechauns exist. But that doesn't mean the truth didn't win out. Truth wins out over malarky for those with the capacity to see reason.
No. I mean while that may be true or not, that isn't what that poster was referring to.
At least that's not what I took.

His response to you started with "certainly not".

I believe he said that truth is just what it is and is harder to swallow. Falsehoods are usually presented very conveniently and convincingly but without substantive truth in it. That makes them easier to take.

Could be wrong but...

Which is why I said truth wins out for those with the capacity to see reason. Please do not go on and on with this. Lets just agree to disagree and move on.

Doesn't matter. Oompa and plenty of others aren't interested in the final score; they've already set forth and reached a cozy destination.

Well, it turns out the score is more disparaging for the loosing team. But I am sure that since it is the gateway pundit, you still have hope that it is fake news. My "cozy destination" is the correct destination. I just got there early because I beat the traffic.

The left has gone from cheering to panic mode. Now they're all over social media crying instead of laughing.

Painting everyone as either Left or right is how we got here. Sure, it is easy and doesn’t require consideration of complexities or nuances, but have we really been dumbed down to seeing everything in simple duality?

“Us vs them” I say no. But “we”. It turns out the shooter was from a Republican family ethos. How is that? What happened?

You are correct.

Have you heard the saying, "Truth is stranger than fiction?"

That's because fiction (which is false), to be accepted, must be acceptable, it must be what people want to see and hear, it must be familiar, it must be comfortable. Fiction must make sense to the mind of the audience. Truth is what it is, and it may be far outside what people are comfortable with or accustomed to.

As I said previously, rebellious teenager surrounded by liberal influences. In this case, the liberal influence appears to be his gay lover who thinks he is a woman.

Yes. I was also going to say that sometimes the truth is not "reasonable" cause we can only consider "reasonable" based on our current understanding.

Some things are new or unknown

Is that how you found it? By looking for it?
After some of it appeared on my algorithm I looked for more. Looking for what comes from any group is how you find out from themselves what they are saying, how they're behaving, and what their mindset is.
