  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please can you pray that I get the job?

Hello,

I have had little success finding work since finishing university, but an excellent opportunity has come. I have been invited to a recruitment day/event, which will be all day and will involve a test, group activities, a demo lesson, and an interview. The job is to teach English in Japan. Funnily enough, I applied maybe 6 months ago or more, but randomly received the call at some point, which I know is God's work and everyone's prayers.

If successful, I can move to Japan with my partner, who is also Japanese and is planning to return there.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit may be with me during the day and that I might pass and get offered a position.

Thank you and God Bless,

Luca

Hello friend,

Thank you so much for your prayers. I surely felt it yesterday! I have two weeks until I hear back.

My partner is not a Christian; she is an atheist/agnostic. I do plan to marry her. We have been together for almost four years now, and I don't see any love in me breaking her heart and leaving her now. I love her a lot, and as my dad would say, "You've made your bed, now lie in it".

God bless you and your family,
Luca

I pray then that your partner comes to know the LORD.

1Ti 4:12 ... be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

I would encourage you to live pure in the relationship. God blesses faithfulness and answers us when we respect His words.

1Jn 3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

Gracious Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus,
I pray for success for Your child here and any future ministry they may have in Japan. Please protect this believer in Christ from being married to an unbeliever, and help them to see their partner as You see them. I pray for opportunities to witness to their partner, and help them to see the ministry aspect of any future move back to Japan. Guide them how You want them to go, and may You name be glorified.
In Christ’s Name,
Amen

Hello Luca,

Just want to jump in here, thanks for sharing your heart with us. It's great to hear that you felt prayers yesterday. Continued prayers for you as you wait to hear back over the next two weeks.

Your dad's words, "You've made your bed, now lie in it," speak to the reality of your commitment, and it's clear you're taking your responsibility to love and honor your partner seriously. That is a truly Christ-like quality. Your love for her is a powerful testimony in itself.

While the Bible warns against being unequally yoked, your partner's specific beliefs—or lack thereof—could be seen as an advantage. An atheist or agnostic, by definition, is someone who doesn't believe in or isn't sure about the existence of any god. They don't have a pre-existing religious framework like Shintoism or Buddhism that might make them more resistant to the Gospel. In a sense, they are a blank slate.

We all were once non-believers before coming to Christ or "atheists" in a technical sense. Your partner (wife) doesn't need to unlearn deeply held religious traditions and practices; she only needs to be introduced to the truth of Christ's love. Your life and your love for her are a direct, personal witness to that love.

The Lord is not surprised by your relationship. He has placed you in it for a reason. As you continue to live a life of faith and purity, your example will be a beautiful reflection of God's grace. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 7:14 that the believing spouse "sanctifies" the unbelieving one. This means your life of faith makes a real, spiritual difference in hers.

My prayer for you is that you continue to be a light in your relationship, showing her the love, peace, and joy that only come from a relationship with Christ. If God grants you this job, you'll be able to demonstrate that love in a new country, a new culture, and a new community.

And if you do make it here, a warm welcome from me in Japan. Let me know when you get here! Immigration is a so long process, get things done very early and make sure all papers are in order so you don't go back and forth. The system is extremely backed-up.

God Bless,
