  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What we know about Tyler Robinson, the young suspect accused in Charlie Kirk killing

Like most of the people in the community, Robinson, his parents and two brothers attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church less than a mile away, [neighbor] Scwiermann said.

The family called their church bishop — also a neighbor — when Robinson threatened to take his own life, according to a law enforcement source who was not authorized to discuss the investigation.

Robinson attended Utah State University in 2021, where he majored in engineering, but took leave after one semester.

He later attended Dixie Technical College, where school officials said he was in his third year of study in the electrical apprenticeship program.

Robinson had registered as nonpartisan in Utah, while both of his parents were registered Republicans, according to registration data reviewed by The Times.

“It is increasingly difficult to immediately ascribe motivation as many lone young assailants are often a mix of grievance, mental distress and aggressions picked up in social circles and online,” said Brian Levin, professor emeritus at Cal State San Bernardino and founder of its Center for the Study of Hate.

“Verbiage, memes, targeting, crude humor and cultural references that are immediately available often telegraph motives for violent symbolic attacks, but can also be amorphous or disjointed,” he said.

“With memes the message was really about talking to other would be shooters,” [extremism expert] Donovan said. “It wasn’t about communicating to the media or communicating even a serious message.”

“It’s both impostor and mocking at the same time,” Donovan said. “When we’re talking about ‘black pilled’ youth and those that are just upset with the entire system, it does make sense that you’d have someone engraving bullets with very nihilistic hubris.”

I guess Megyn Kelly worked herself up into a frenzy about how a semester at Utah State radicalized this kid, and went on to drop an f-bomb directed at anyone who showed interest in the internet/meme/gaming angle.

ETA: She's found the real culprit. “We haven’t felt like ourselves since Barack Obama. He was such a slick snake. This affable guy wearing good suits and looked the part and sounded the part and dressed the part. But so divisive in his messaging.”

Makes everyone wonder where society went wrong for this troubled young kid. If I may address the elephant in the room. Society failed him by convincing him that any speech he didnt like was hate speech and violence was an acceptable response. Does anyone think for a second that perhaps celebrities holding bloodied heads resembling Donald Trump had anything to do with this? Does anyone think that perhaps a sitting president calling half the country "the greatest threat to democracy" had anything to do with it? When you had mobs of people throwing milkshakes and attacking people, some even punching elderly people for wearing a MAGA hat, does anyone think that perhaps that had something to do with it? When Trump was shot in the ear, and the internet became flooded with people enraged because the gunman missed, does anyone think perhaps that had something to do with this impressionable young kid assassinating someone because he had the audacity of sitting down with people who disagreed with him and have conversations?
It could have been any of those things.

It could also have been any of the vitriol spewed by the right over the last several decades that you conveniently ignored.

Or the GOP trying to assassinate the Vice President and overthrow the government?

when Trump was shot in the ear,

Never happened. Though the shooter was a Republican.

Why so much violence from the right?

Seriously. Slo-mo video shows his ear was cut when he was tackled.
No it doesn’t. He grabbed his ear before he went down

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle," the FBI said in a statement.

I'm not so sure that's true. First, Lance is used almost exclusively as a male name. It probably wouldn't be feminine enough for someone who is transitioning from male to female to choose as the name they want to go by. Also, on his Facebook profile he refers to himself as "sir" lance._.lotte in a link to another social media account, and one of his friends calls him a man in a comment. I guess to some on the right, seeing pictures of a man in a pink shirt, an animal-themed onesie, or with long hair somehow makes them transgender.

I’m not saying what they’re saying in those articles can’t be true, but I don’t trust them on their own. Until there's confirmation, I would take claims like this with a huge grain of salt.

Per the article
Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin Tyler Robinson was living with a transgender partner who was in the process of transitioning from male to female, a law enforcement source confirmed to The Post Saturday.

... Now, it's still entirely possible that this law enforcement source is mistaken. Time will tell.

But if that does end up being the case, that would tie some of the puzzle pieces together in conjunction with what the family member reported about him having an outburst at dinner recently about "Kirk is a spreader of hate"

I know there were some people who seeme hopeful that it was a "Groyper" thing (for multiple reasons)

But if this particular law enforcement statement ends up getting confirmed, I think that's enough info where can close the book on the Groyper thing.

Fox News just confirmed it, from an FBI source.
If true, then it was Charlie Kirk's own words and attitude towards the transgender community, and not rhetoric from the left, that angered Tyler Robinson and led to his decision to assassinate him.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

There is no additional language allowing you to kill someone over words or if you're angry.

This was premeditated. He engraved the bullets. He drove the three to four hours to the site. He arrived hours early. He changed clothes. He climbed up on the roof. He aimed through the scope. Plenty of chances to get that anger under control.

He shot Charlie, and then he ran. He climbed down off the roof, dumped the rifle in the nearby woods, and drove the three to four hours home. He didn't turn himself in, at least not until he was identified, and his father got involved.

No, this was more than anger. Anger is fleeting. Hate is ongoing. It had to have been hate. Hate fed his anger, I think. Even his own family member(s) called it hate.

AI: Hate can be seen as a deeper, more sustained form of anger where the object of hatred feels like a threat and is seen as an obstacle to be eliminated rather than a situation to be changed, according to Psychology Today and After Psychotherapy. Both emotions are powerful and can be fuelled by fear, insecurity, and a desire for revenge, often leading to aggression and negative actions.

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Your post would have carried some weight if you used examples from both sides of the political fence. Unfortunately you couldn't bring yourself to do that. So rather being a proffered solution to what is so wrong with the US, it's an example of the problem itself.

How ironic...
