  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Garcia could have returned to his home country; but he fought tooth and nail to get shipped off to Swaziland, an impoverished, disease infested, absolute Monarchy, with the lowest life expectancy in the world.

No.
1) He could not return to El Salvador due to endagerment of his life....a court agreed with him.
2) It was DHS that decided to send him to Swaziland....and now Eswanti. He was willing to go to Costa Rica, but for some strange reason, that wasn't acceptable to Bondi and team.

I haven's seen a poll on how the voters feel about accommodating his wishes; but I don't mind that we paid a little extra air fare for this guy.

Cost is not the issue. Intentional cruelty is.

The claim is that he is in fear of torture in over 20 countries; or at least that is the story now.

That's a bit extreme for a dad who loves puppies and reads to his grandmother.

Maybe it has something to do with rival gangs; as he is a MS13 gang member.

Oh. but wait...He claims that he is not a gang member; and gang members never lie to authorities. :holy:

He was willing to go to Costa Rica,
ORLY?

You don't think that the cartels are sophisticated enough to track him down anywhere in the world, once he is separated from his gang, even in a Federal prison?

If we go with the argument that we need to keep him safe with his fellow gang members; that means that we need to keep all the gang members together, right here at home; so that they are all equally protected.

...or we could have just sent him to El Salvador.

He can go to Costa Rica.

There is no justification to send a person from Central America to Africa. None.

Yes.
And the government's main contention is that gang members have identified him thusly.

So.....

There were several important points of contention; but the foundational underlying point of contention was that he was here illegally.

That was settled.

Agreed.

And had the DHS deported him legally, we would not be having this discussion. Instead, they ignored a standing order and a judge and deported him to the El Salvador gulog....

Really? From here: Bondi Reveals ‘Disturbing Facts’ About Dem Darling Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s Human Trafficking Scheme

“On May 21st, a grand jury in the Middle District of Tennessee returned a sealed indictment, charging Abrego Garcia with alien smuggling and conspiracy to commit alien smuggling,” Bondi said. “Our government presented El Salvador with an arrest warrant, and they agreed to return him to our country. We’re grateful to President Bukele for agreeing to return him to our country to face these very serious charges.”

Now, Bondi says, there is no longer any doubt that Abrego Garcia was a criminal.'

Did she lie? If she didn't then you are now letting him off all of those charges. And you consider this justice. As Garcia himself might say 'Que risa!'

I've nothing to add.

The evidence doesn't support that:

Yes.

Thanks for providing verification of my statement.

you consider this justice

I asked a question. Was Bondi lying? Or is she really letting him off a very serious crime.

If the answer is B, then can you tell us if you think other illegal immigrants will get the same consideration?

You presented a false dichotomy.

You presented a false dichotomy.
Either he is facing charges or Bondi was highly inaccurate when she stated that he would be. It would not be the first time she issued an inaccurate statement about him.

Hey, it's one or the other. She was either absolutely convinced he had comitted serious crimes - in which case the DoJ has let him off them and hasn't even bothered to even charge him with said crimes. Or...she lied to you.

You are at liberty to the present a third case. But just as a heads up, I'm voting Option 2. I'm guessing that most people would hope that's the case otherwise all illegal immigrants would be expected to be treated the same.

Drug dealer? Just send him home.
Rapist? Just send him home.
People smuggler? Just send him home.

I mean, you wouldn't want your tax dollars spent on lawyers and courts and the whole judicial system. Due process? What a waste of money. Just send them home!
