For much the same reason most of us don’t take the time to reason with the person yelling at a mailbox, I suspect. Not being one who lives in a world where my reality involves having a grudge with a mailbox, there’s not much I can say about it… Not because they’re bringing up some really good points and owning the mailbox, but because they’re yelling. At a mailbox.

Either it will work itself out and they’ll rejoin reality with the rest of us, or they won’t. Regardless, there’s nothing I can say in either case to make them realize yelling at a mailbox is craziness.

The only way to stop this violence is for those who are on the left to do it themselves. For a faction who claims to adore "the sacred institution of democracy", the fact that it's considered "acceptable" to take shortcuts, cheat, etc... because "the half of the country that doesn't agree with me may vote for something I don't like, so we need to make sure they only get to pick from a list of options that is within my own personal comfort zone" is a huge problem.

- In democracy people should get what they vote for and deserve to get it good and hard.
- There shouldn't be mulligans in democracy, people should have to suffer the choice they made.


I agree with both of those principles. The most definitive way to prove that XYZ doesn't work (if it's actually problematic), is to try XYZ unincumbered for a few years.

Trump was a reaction to Obama. A dignified, very intelligent, scholarly man who loved his wife, was by ALL accounts and excellent husband and father, elloquent, who was capable and dedicated to his job; a hard worker and a, generally honest man who didn't need to cheat at basketball and didn't need everyone around him to sign NDAs just to work with him.

Republicans disagreed with him politically (duh....) but it seemed like it couldn't JUST be that. You can disagree with someone and still recognize their positive quality traits. But too often what we heard from the left is "we can't trust him", "He's a muslim" "he's from Kenya".

THAT'S what the left saw when we put up a quality candidate that you disagreed with. THAT was critique.

You say Obama caused the problems but I never hear about what he did (I can't think of anything he did worse than any other republican president anyways...). Seems like Republican's response was to elect the anti-Obama.
