  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You just can't help yourself. Have to continue insulting him by comparing the great Kirk to some state rep. no one had ever heard of.
How does that make it any less of a politically motivated attack?

Anyway, he's to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, so that's nice.
Is that same award he gave Rush Limbaugh?

Nice. My OP was about something Trump did.
And something he didn't do.
I didn't say anything about Kirk in this thread except to describe him as "a media personality," which is an accurate description of his career and his role in our politics. Why did you felt it necessary to deride Melissa Horton like you did? Perhaps you're the one who can't help yourself?
Because she never did anything of importance on the national stage that would earn her the honor of having flags lowered, and that's not really deriding her since I've never done anything important either. Most people haven't. But Kirk was a very important influence for positive good politically, culturally and intellectually.

Sic video now’s shows a deranged man standing up and cheering seconds after Charlie was shot. Everyone else ducking for cover but this lunatic stands up cheering. What did he know? So many evil comments supporting the shooter and this vile act. Pray for this nation.

I don't understand the question.
You complained about the comparison being made. Both were politically motivated assassinations. There’s one way the two compare.

Apparently. Luvatar implied that he did.
Then it appears to only be a cheap gesture Trump only seems to remember to give out when it’s a bit too late.

Pastor Jack Hibbs, a close friend of Charlie Kirk, told Fox News Digital he was in disbelief when he heard the conservative firebrand had been assassinated after having spoken to him just hours earlier.

"My initial thoughts, of course, like everyone else, is what is going on in our country?" Hibbs said. "But then quickly, I think my second thought, which is the prevailing thought, is Charlie was obviously a young man of not only profound intellect, he had a great faith in Jesus."

Kirk, 31, was shot and killed Wednesday at the kickoff of his "American Comeback Tour" at Utah Valley University. He leaves behind his wife, Erika, and two young children, ages 1 and 3.

Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in Southern California, said Kirk had "a love for the Bible" and the pair "spent the last several years going through the Scriptures together."

Kirk's assassination made him an "American martyr" that will encourage an entire generation of "untold Charlies who will follow in his footsteps," he said.

I believe it was written on the bullet casings they found...
Apparently the fella scribed the following “I did it. I, a Lady, did it”.

There was also some lipstick and a beard trimmer.

"very important influence for positve good".
You agreed with him.
That's it.

It doesn't make him a saint. It doesn't make him good. You agreed with him.

That's it. There was nothing special about him. He's just another right wing Rush Limbaugh type.

FOR THE RECORD, my thoughts on the shooting:
It makes me sad and quite worried. I think it's pretty messed up that he was shot in front of his loved ones and family.
...a media personality, murdered in an presumably political attack:

but not for Melissa Hortman, an elected official, murdered in a separate political attack:
View attachment 369839
This president is so partisan he shouldn't be leading anything. And the idea that anyone is expecting people to come together under this leadership shows an utter lack of self reflection on their own behaviours.

Why come to someone who has such disdain that they won't bother acknowledging the killing of someone they disagree with?

I tend to think of the dead school children who have been shot for the last decade to be teh TRUE American Martyrs.

They were apolotical; they loved their country and community; they didn't try to create divisions within the country.

I've watched Charlie Kirk's "debates", and he didn't demonstrate any Christian virtues. Cleverness and "owning the libs" aren't Christian virtues.

All the evidence seems to be that he embraced an "evangelical" faith because it fit with his racist, xenophobic take on "Christian nationalism".

I have absolutely zero doubts that Charlie Kirk is a true Christian. Any attacks against his faith from left wing liberals will only further testify of the saving faith that Charlie Kirk has in my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I was wondering why I was seeing so many flags at half-staff today. :praying:
Wasn’t there something else that happened on this date a while back?

I have no opinion on his faith. He has some political and social opinions I struggle to equate with a Christian ethos, but his FAITH? I have no reason to question it.
I haven't heard him say anything directly related to his faith that I have any kind of problem with.

He founded Turning Point USA and he was much smarter than you.
Well, you're half right. The rest is just more baiting and goading, not to mention an unbecoming, personal remark.
What kind of provocateur was the person who shot Charlie Kirk.
A murderous one, obviously.
You have a right to your opinion but what you have posted here is not an accurate representation of the man,
What was inaccurate about it?

My tendency, when I try to figure how connected to Christ someone may be (though it tends not to be my place to judge this), I think of what we are called to: I look for Fruits of the Spirit. It's about the simpliest way.

What are his fruits?
Love, joy , peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control are the fruits of the spirit.
Given that he's a "media personality" it's kinda tough to get a sense of what kinda person he really, truly was his with family and friends and loved ones. Of course "how hard is it to say I love my friend"....
Regardless, I'm not sure how any of those fruits fit into his media persona. But admittedly, I don't watch him as often as others....

To think that you define a christian by how many "left wing libs" disagree..... do you see the lack of biblical bases that has?

Lots of comparisons can be made. They both had two arms and two legs, for example. But Kirk is not being honored for being assassinated.
Then it appears to only be a cheap gesture Trump only seems to remember to give out when it’s a bit too late.
Kirk was only 31 y.o.
