The guy was arrested in January for a misdemeanor for making a bogus 911 call. He committed the murder 7 months later. Are you seriously suggesting that we jail somebody for 7 months for a bad phone call?

If I may add, the article also said: "Over the next seven years, he was arrested at least six times for crimes including felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon and communicating threats. According to the Charlotte Observer, most of the charges he faced during that time were dropped."
What we are looking at is multiple opportunities by the judicial system to put the guy away and protect society.

That's correct, but aside from that 5-year hitch, none of you guys have provided any specifics about what he did, when he did it, and what he should have been punished with. Were those 14 prior cases shoplifting and loitering? Or were they aggravated assault? Were they 10 years ago or last month? OP and others in his article are screaming that this guy wasn't still imprisoned for making a bogus 911 call nine months ago. Even the most hang-em-high judge+DA pair wouldn't have jailed him for that long.

his point was that black people are coddled by the justice system, which is relevant and true.

this type of unprovoked black on white violent assault is a routine occurrence

this event in particular is a bit of a flashpoint because it just happened to be captured on video in such vivid and horrific detail

The article mentions armed robbery and assaulting his sister. The liberal court system failed society, failed his victim, he should have been locked up, whether in prison or in a mental facility was for the courts to determine.

of course crime happens all the time, but it's not a normal thing for a white guy to brutally attack some random black guy who just happens to be nearby.

however, the inverse is very common. it is routine to see a black guy or 'teen' knocking out some random white person who just happens to be in the vicinity. it's actual racial hatred expressed violently out in the open and has been going on a long time.
