Experience in the field has taught me nobody cares who the detail is for when they’re working time and a half or a private detail. In my department they all hated Bush Jr when it came time to vote, but had no issue when he came to town to campaign because it was big (and easy) money. Stand by road. Block road. Stay by road. Sit in car by road. Get $55+ dollars an hour and credit in any applicable union for taking the job. Win/win/win.

That said, as municipal officers, they only did escort and protection gigs if literally nobody else was available… It simply wasn’t their job.

But most police officers I worked with were adult enough to differentiate between “I don’t like this person so I won’t vote for them” and “I don’t like this person therefore I don’t care if something happens to them and don’t want to serve in protecting them.”

Given she was a DA and attorney general for CA, I’d bet she has a better relationship with the police than even you do.
