President Donald Trump has secretly authorized military force against Latin American drug cartels designated by the United States as foreign terrorist organizations, according to reports.

The move, reported by the New York Times, would give U.S. forces permission to engage the cartels, which traffic drugs like fentanyl across the US-Mexico border,

"The president is determined to not just dismantle – but completely destroy – [Venezuelan dictator Nicolas] Maduro’s Cartel de Los Soles and obliterate their operations in the Western Hemisphere," a source close to the White House said, the New York Post reported.

From what I understand, military actions will not be conducted on foreign soil. But the Navy will be performing operations around the U.S. coasts and ground forces along the border.

I don't think there was a declaration of war against Pancho Villa. Nor was there a declaration of war when Gen. Jackson traipsed down into Spanish Florida. The interesting thing there was that the Spanish government was unable to prevent Seminole raids into the US (or, apparently, deal uprisings in their colony). Sounds a lot like the current situation with Mexico., except the US was keen to acquire Florida and maybe not so much Mexico.

Really, it’s just another excuse to legislate his intolerance towards everybody south of the border. However, I fear he is laying the groundwork to not have an election in 2028. “We are at war,” and suspend elections.

Perhaps people can show their solidarity by erecting statues of these fallen drug smugglers next to the drug thug George Floyd statue. Ironic because Floyd died from thr very same drugs these victims of injustice tried to smuggle into our border.
