  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When the goal is to remove the undesirable, you just have to make it look somewhat legit.
I'm pretty sure there once was a European country that did this. But that is what The Leader wanted back then, and it is what Leader Trump wants now.

Yep, and the playbook hasn't changed much.
Redefinition of citizenship and who are citizens.
Replacing judges with those who support the party line.

Judges are literally telling them to stop violating the law.
Those lower level judges are consistently being overruled by higher appeals courts and the SCOTUS.

Nuh-uh. Most of these cases are so new that nothing has reached full SCOTUS review, though SCOTUS has allowed some actions to continue (and forbidden others, like eliminating birthright citizenship in certain states) for the time being. And things are only slowly getting to the Appeals stage.

Churchill was known for being pretty uninhibited, to the point that he frequently talked to advisors while on the toilet and once had a meeting with FDR in the nude. I would be pretty amused if Trump tried something like that.

I remember several of the lower courts being reversed by appeals and by the SCOTUS and the SCOTUS judges scolding lower courts for attempting to ignore or go around rulings made by the SCOTUS.

I remember several of the lower courts being upheld by appeals and by the SCOTUS.

Ergo, the lower courts are not "consistently being overruled".

Which ones did SCOTUS uphold this year?

Birthright citizenship, for one. Although SCOTUS curtailed its application only to the states that sued, birthright citizenship is still the law of the land there on the merits.

Here's another.

Supreme Court upholds a lower court order to force USAID to pay contractors

SCOTUS overturned the Appeals court's 'erroneous' ruling and went with the lower court's ruling.

That is only 2 cases out of many which have been decided in favor of Trump's executive actions.

Most of them have not been decided. Although SCOTUS has been issuing some stays (and not in other cases) on the emergency docket as the appeals are worked out, there are not many cases where they have ruled on the merits.

Justice Barrett disagrees strongly with universal injunction from lower courts.
As she should. A small-time lower court should not set a precedent for the entire nation. Such a case should go to higher courts and the Supreme Court if necessary. It is like we have 677 Supreme Courts. It is very confusing and way out of line. I think the SC will continue to slap their hands until it eventually finds one in contempt.
