If you did decide to do an angry hateful school shooting (NOT saying you would) Id prefer if you could only find a single shot bolt action rather than an ar and sling of 30 round magazines.

Ok, but that only addresses that one possible circumstance. But suppose my house is broken into and I'm facing a gang of thugs with their own weapons. I'd hate to be restricted to defending myself with a single shot bolt action, and I don't think I should be, even if that's what someone else prefers.
Besides, even if a person did do a shooting with a single shot bolt action and killed someone with it, we'd be hearing calls for a ban on those because "even one life lost is too many".

Besides, why should law-abiding citizens be restricted based on what criminals do, or might do?

Isn't saving a few lives is better than saving none? Also, many handguns used in mass shootings have high capacity magazines. Assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines being banned would save many lives.

By your logic though would it be better to save more lives or fewer? In other words if your whole thing is saving one life ( saving a few lives) then we should ban seatbelts seat belts can take lives, but they save many more than they take. Banning assault weapons to save the few lives would be like banning seat belts. Remember just because something is banned does not mean people who mean harm will not have it (particularly in the beginning assaults weapons were banned once before and the ban lapsed; since there have been millions more made. The people who would do damage do not care two hoots if something is banned and the people that do not do not need them banned.

You could remove transgender people from the face of the earth, and the school (and other) shooting problem will carry on just like normal.

Oh the world would carry on, but a tiny number of people, and a larger number of people who are part of the trans movement, are having a major effect on more and more people's lives. It's part of the anti-Judeo/Christian movement. You can see this guy hated Trump and Jews and Christians and blacks and took part in the violence that is preached.

That's a good point. I mean I've seen many of them, and used to play the video games with violence as well.
The mentally ill used to be institutionalized and treated, but are now celebrated for their "diversity", and then eventually go haywire when their fabricated reality comes crashing down. Society propping up a false sense of reality only encourages the mental illness to become worse until it becomes deadly.
Good thing hospitals don't tell people who have diagnosed with cancer to celebrate their cancer and to embrace it as a friend. It wouldn't address the problem any better than treating mental illness that way.

Very well said. I think this young man’s transgenderism should have been treated as a mental illness rather than his “gender identity” and he should have gotten help for his anger and hatred. This whole tragedy should have been prevented, it’s heartbreaking.

An vague law is typically unenforceable. What specific and distinguishing features make a gun such that it would be categorized as an "assault style" weapon? What capacity makes a magazine to be categorized as "high"?

In California below are the features of assault-style weapons:

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:

• A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
• A thumbhole stock.
• A folding or telescoping stock.
• A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
• A flash suppressor.
• A forward pistol grip.

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

A semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:

• A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
• A second handgrip.
• A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer's hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
• The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.

Magazines on all guns are limited to 10 rounds.

If it's found that a gun owner made it easy for someone to access a gun that was in their possession and it's used in a crime, take all of their guns away from them and destroy them. so in those decades we would still lose people . Plus, what if someone did NOT make it easy for them to access the gun you destroy the gun anyway ( even current asset forefiture law dos not work like that. That is to say that if someone honestly does not know their property came from or is being used for illegal purposes he or she will not lose it ( now if they reasonablly should have known they will but if they truely did not know they will not lose their property just because it was used in a crime

Banning assault-style weapons is not the only thing that needs to change. I showed earlier that high capacity magazines have been used in over half of mass shootings with 6 or more killed. They are also used on the streets by criminals and gang members who kill and injure many people each year. Combine this with waiting periods, red flag laws, and universal background checks on all gun purchases and transfers, including private transfers and sales, and thousands of lives will be saved each year.
