It began within the FBI before Mueller because Trump officials like Papadopulous, Manafort, Gates, kept lying in those interviews. Since other posters seem unwilling or unable, would you care to take a stab at explaining what the theory is here? If they were set aside to be burned during the Biden administration, then there's no evidence tampering. If it was set aside after the investigation started, then it was during the Trump administration, which means it was one of your guys.

And how do any of you know this wasn't just a routine (attempt at) destroying unneeded hard copies. What makes you think these aren't stored on a server somewhere? One of the documents that was named was part of John Durham's report that was submitted several years ago. It was classified and not released to the public, but it wasn't unknown to government officials.

Burn bags are supposed to be processed and destroyed promptly, not to sit around for years. So it was likely put into the bags recently during Trump's administration. When? I dont know. I want to believe that they were placed in the bags before July 17 when Tulsi Gabbard referred Obama to the DOJ for criminal investigations. Which I believe is the most reasonable assumption. However, all classified documents are heavily tracked and accounted for. Even if they are in burn bags, there is a record of each documents whereabouts until they are destroyed.

Furthermore, I believe the most reasonable explanation as to why they were not initially provided was because the burn bags was probably one of the last places they checked and that once discovered, they were immediately provided.

The concern that I have is not that documents were found, but what specific documents were found that are specifically tied to the Durham investigation. The question that I have is why they were ever put in burn bags in the first place? It could have not been by the direction of the president because it would not make sense for him to destroy evidence beneficial to his case. There are still a lot of Obama loyalists in the FBI, and as we have seen during Trump's first term, lone wolf subversion is a thing.

That's assuming somebody didn't just screw up, leave the bag in a closet somewhere, and forget about it. We've had enough conversations around here about mishandling of documents that I think we should all agree that this is at least plausible.

At least some of the documents were already published within the government. Burning a hard copy would only burn the hard copy, not snuff the whole thing from existence.

Maybe that's true with stuff that's above Top Secret. I haven't heard about that being the case, but that's about the only level at which such a system would be feasible.

What was not "initially provided"? What in these bags constitutes new information? The annex to the Durham report wasn't made public, but it wasn't hidden from everybody.

I certainly agree that Obama ordered information to be gathered about Russian election interference AFTER our intelligence agencies produced a document that said that Russia did not hack the tallies from voting machines.
