What is the goal of The Trump Tariffs?

At first I had no idea what the long term goals were for the Trump Tariffs.

Later on here in Canada I noticed that the Liberal Party of Canada fired P. M. Justin Trudeau and seemed to get much tougher on crime especially crime related to the USA border.

I also saw some videos that seemed to indicate that the Trump Tariffs were really scaring the corrupt leaders of the Communist Party of China and giving them a reason to calm down Xi from his rather ambitious goals for China.

Now I am wondering if the major long term goals of the Trump Tariffs are to use Tariffs to calm down nations that have overly ambitions plans against the USA.

Could the USA Tariffs on China even prevent China from invading Taiwan?

Could the USA Tariffs on China lead to China giving more freedom to the groups that they have been persecuting for years and decades?

Ouch, that is so true. The economy that will be developed in the USA over the coming two decades will be very different than what we are used to.

One very positive shift that I do believe will happen that we will be heading back toward organic farming.

The truth seems to be coming out rapidly about how BigOil has manipulated matters over these past decades in food and in medicine that was highly unethical and dangerous for us.

Tariffs are a type of import tax. The balance between tariffs has not been equal for a long time. Mr. Trump is using his business acumen to negotiate with major trade partners. So far we have trade deals with Japan, Vietnam, Australia, the UK and the EU, all bringing higher tariffs, which means more money to the United States and more business.

Australia is once again accepting our beef that’s going to help our farmers and ranchers. A number of countries are excepting gas natural gas from the United States. Another Boone to our Konomi tech companies are opening their doors and building inside the United States. It’s going to take some time, but the end product will be an even stronger economy practicing peace through power.

Mr. Trump has been in office six months and has already brokered four piece agreements or cease-fires globally using the economy, the global economy and finances to help bring peace.

There are those who hate him that will never admit that what he is doing, is helping the United States, and also helping promote peace globally.

I do believe that we will be making a serious shift toward hydrogen but the biggest pressure toward organic farming will be that we are becoming more well informed about the dangers of GMO foods and all the chemicals that those plants depend on.

I have to admit that the idea of using Tariffs as a tool to get other nations to be more peaceful and deal with the USA in a more fair manner is an option that hadn't even crossed my mind until I saw President Trump doing this.

I do believe that these USA Tariffs are forcing other nations to address crime and become more peaceful.

Now that I have had some time to see where this is probably leading I am thinking that these Trump Tariffs may well even prevent wars and decrease many types of crime worldwide. I am pleasantly surprised so far!

I read Peter Navarro's book on trade and i think you will find more there than all the conjured stuff on war etc. His trade advisor recognizes how unfair the current system has been for the usa. So the plan was to push back. To an extent i agree but i think it is extreme and will likely cause harm. Trump is just too inconsiderate and uses too many sticks and few carrots. But back to your question, the trade deficits need more balance. Navarro solved this. Trade always has been used to punish enemies and support allies. Trump does infuse a little of this but the main focus from Navarro is to make it more of a fair sytem.
In my own opinion a trade war with China should increase the chance of a taiwan or philippines conflict. Why? Because they have less to lose. If you look at trade flows China, and their friends such as russia are trading more together and less with us and our allies. This is more likely to cause an alignment against the usa. Trump though is only in office 3.5 years. The economy is still likely to suffer or the tariff policy will be struck down in the courts. trump lost already in the usa court for intl trade and that case is on appeal. Trump exceeds his powers. Congress has the responsibiltt to raise taxes including tariffs. Emergency and contingencues that trump uses are far too vast.
