If there was anything against Trump in the Epstein files, it would have been leaked

Hi all,
as much as I disagree with almost everything about Trump with every fibre of my being, I personally doubt there could be anything devastating against him in the Epstein files simply because I'm sceptical about conspiracy theories - and feel human beings are too prone to leaking something THAT big!

Mind you - decades ago I was a Department of Community Services officer in the NSW government. I can tell you with some authority that sick, powerful men in a society do cluster together and form paedophile conspiracies. They form networks to enable their sick addictions.

Leaks like this can be kept quite by the same logic with which NATO have not nuked Russia - it's Mutually Assured Destruction. I don't have details on me, but have read departmental training material on various local cabals in NSW back in the day. The only stuff more disturbing? When this gets combined with "Ritual Abuse" - when it gets into Satanic stuff. Even us DOCS officers were not to attempt investigating THAT stuff - we would tell our managers who would escalate it to a special unit. (I like to think of them as a child welfare version of Mulder and Scully! Fortunately I never had a case like that. But the curiosity of this old X-Files fan does sometimes make me wish I knew more about that special unit. From a distance. I don't even know the unit's name!)

The thing that makes me sceptical about a cabal in Federal Administrations - especially under Trump - is the sheer scale - and the venomous energy of those he burns! Think about the vast number of public servants he has yelled "You're fired!" at like he's the star of his own reality TV show. I guess he still is? Unfortunately for us, it's called "The News!"

If any of the more bitter ex-staffers knew anything - surely it would have been leaked by now?

HOWEVER - having said all that - Trump is not helping himself!

QUIZ TIME: Trump has explained away the Epstein files by claiming:-
A: They're one of America's largest conspiracies - written by Obama and Hilary Clinton and Democrats and "Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration",

B: Then tried to blame the Democrats for NOT releasing the files THEY created!?,

C: In doing so contradicted US Attorney General Pam Bondi who says there ARE NO Epstein files (even though she had them on her desk in February),

D: Anyone who asks about Epstein all these years later is a bad person. (Even though he still can't stop lying and crying about the 2020 election 'being stolen' and a thousand other petty grievances he has with anyone ever who has ever opposed him or his policies.)

E: Said of his own MAGA base asking these questions - "Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!"

F: ALL OF THE ABOVE!
30 seconds thinking time...
...
...
...
...
ANSWER:
The correct answer is E - all of the above!

Well done! You have demonstrated you have a grip on logical inconsistencies and self-contradiction. Just as his MAGA base are starting to discover!

This was his first ever "Truth Social" post to get MORE COMMENTS than likes - indicating the MAGA base want to question him more than adulate him. This is a new low with his OWN base - and now he is turning on his own base as 'weaklings'. Interesting times.

Elon Musk? Don't forget they were once besties

"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"

True - but Elon's so odd himself that I'm not sure what I make of that.

And that's all there is. Being in the files could mean anything. Epstein rubbed shoulders with numerous prominent figures in politics, business, and entertainment.

Except - it's all made up by those evil Democrats! That would make it one of the biggest political scandals in American political life - one of the dirtiest, most muck raking bottom-of-the-barrel schemes imaginable. Books and documentaries and history teachers should be talking about it for generations.

Oh - but it's also really boring - why are people so obsessed with it?

Which one is it Donald?

One of the dirtiest political misinformation conspiracies in American history - or boring? ;)

Also - he says he doesn't draw?

Then what's all this?

There's been one devastating case of the century against Trump after another, that was going to ruin him and put him behind bars for sure. None of which went anywhere. They've all been nothing burgers. I've been saying that along with many others for nearly 10 years. "But he was convicted of 34 felonies!" But he was never sentenced. Therefore that had zero effect. How could anyone be surprised that many dismissed "he's totally guilty, but we're going to let him walk" as a nothing burger? All of the other detrimental cases that surely would've ruined him and put him behind bars, were dropped. Since the judicial system lets him slide, why shouldn't the public? Donald Trump is going to finish out his term as President, for a second time, and then retire in luxury. And none of this sort of stuff is going to change that in any way whatsoever.

Teflon Don.
None of which went anywhere. They've all been nothing burgers.
That's not actually factual. He's been arrested four times and tried and convicted criminally once. He has sued for fraud successfully several times.
I've been saying that along with many others for nearly 10 years. "But he was convicted of 34 felonies!" But he was never sentenced.
Another alternate "fact". He was sentenced to no consequences, but sentenced nonetheless.
Therefore that had zero effect. How could anyone be surprised that many dismissed "he's totally guilty, but we're going to let him walk" as a nothing burger?
Winking at corruption is an honored tradition.
All of the other detrimental cases that surely would've ruined him and put him behind bars, were dropped.
They were dropped not for lack of merit, but because our judicial system won't/can't prosecute a sitting president. He managed to draw things out until it had to be dropped.
Since the judicial system lets him slide, why shouldn't the public?
Seriously? The public should care about blatant corruption even if some members of the judiciary are corrupt, imo.
Donald Trump is going to finish out his term as President, for a second time, and then retire in luxury.
That's unlikely as his health, mental and physical, is not good at all. As for his wealth, he has made more, far more, in the last six months than the accumulated pre-2025 total. It's a disgrace.
And none of this sort of stuff is going to change that in any way whatsoever.
Probably not, but some Magadonians might draw the line if he participated with Epstein in sex trafficking, even as they did not seem to mind his sex assaulting. It is a mystery to me.

Yeah - that whole Presidential System of the USA's has got some serious flaws. The rule of law is dying in this system.

I reckon half the motivation for the tariffs is forcing the world to kiss the ring.
The other half is those few times he gets to let rich mates know to place big bets on the stock market and then announce another "90 day reprieve." Wall Street used the term TACO - Trump Always Chickens Out. Sadly - I don't think it's chickening out. I think it's Trump Always Cashes Out! He's created havoc in international trade which weakens every economy - especially America - as he plays the stock market. Didn't Congress have to approve tariffs?

Now Trump can just up them on a whim - or if he gets soap in his eyes in the shower and feels like a tantrum.

Probably not, but some Magadonians might draw the line if he participated with Epstein in sex trafficking, even as they did not seem to mind his sex assaulting. It is a mystery to me.
They have thousands of hours of video.
What might be in those horrifies me.

“Wonderful secret letter”

There must be more to life than having everything!
Donald: Yes there is but I won’t tell you what it is!
Jeffrey: Nor will I since I also know what it is.
Donald: “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.”
Jeffrey: “Yes, we do, come to think of it.”
Donald: “Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?”
Jeffrey: “As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.”
Trump: A pal is a wonderful. Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

But I still wonder if there's anything more incriminating.
If there is - I don't know how it hasn't surfaced yet?

If by kissing the ring you mean getting deals for his Trump Organization and hefty gifts for himself, then I would put the motivation as 90%.

I agree with you.

If there were any damaging revelations about President Trump, they would have surfaced by now. Since 2015, Democrats and liberals have hoped for evidence that would end his political career, but nothing significant has emerged and is unlikely to do so. Any unknowns about President Trump are already public.

If I advised the DNC, I'd suggest staying quiet and letting MAGA factions fight among themselves.

Within the MAGA movement, some believe in a global elite involved in child abuse and controlling world politics. They also view President Trump as a divinely appointed figure who will stop this abuse. These individuals are irrational and unresponsive to reason, believing Epstein is central to this abuse. They support President Trump not due to his policies or political views, but because they believe he will bring an end to child abuse worldwide. However, as President Trump now declines to release the relevant document, this has significantly undermined the foundation of their convictions. - Lesson is “ you can’t control crazy”

For the past decade, President Trump has maintained GOP unity, which has been a major source of frustration for the media and Democrats. However, this unity may soon experience division.

President Trump's political career is expected to conclude by 2027, and a new GOP leader is will emerge for the 2028 election. There has been speculation that President Trump may support one of his children, possibly Don Jr., as a successor. As a result, potential candidates who do not receive his endorsement may seek alternative paths to the nomination. Some may align themselves with President Trump's policies, others may attempt to move more to the right, and some may return to traditional Republican positions. While unity within the GOP could persist through the upcoming midterm elections, the post-midterm period may see the rise of multiple politicians seeking to lead the party into a new era ahead of the 2028 election.

The Biden administration had access to the Epstein Files from 2020 to 2024. If there was info about Trump in those files that could destroy him, why on earth would the Biden administration not have nailed Trump with it in all that time?

Everybody is making a big deal out of Trump knowing what's in the Epstein Files, but what about Biden who had the Epstein Files for 4 years before Trump did?

The sitting FBI director, the president’s son Trump Jr., and the current Deputy Director of the FBI all asked the Biden administration to release the Epstein files, despite knowing they did not exist. This was considered savvy politics at the time, but now that they are in power, it has backfired on them. Feeding into conspiracy theories can ultimately have unintended consequences.

More specifically the alleged so-called client list. Which apparently never existed. And if that's the case, it seems likely that Donald is having fun with it.

Are you ready? Because that is not how the DOJ is suppose to work. They are, are you ready again? They are independent of the president's whims. A president can say, "hey, let's focus on America's homicide rate" or in Obama's case "work on police reform" but they are not there to go after a president's perceived enemies. I know seeing the Trump DOJ does go specifically after his enemies all the time, one can assume that is the norm. It's not. You never seen Merrick Garland sitting next to Biden at televised cabinet meetings. He literally went to far to keep DOJ's independence.

With that said, the Epstein scenario is just another Trump self inflicted gunshot wound just like all the rest of his indictments and convictions. They ran on this as a promise to his same conspiratorial "2020 was stolen" and "Obama was born in Kenya MAGA" base. Trump, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Dan Bongino (aka his admin) made this pretty much podcast campaign issue and promise. Problem is Trump and Epstein used to be tight. Epstein was a perv and frankly Trump when comes to females, at times, has no morals. There is history of Trump's depraved behavior. So you can bet he is all over whatever documents that were promised to be released. But that would be embarrassing to Trump. So now another bad Trump cover up blaming everyone from Obama to Biden to Comey to"why didn't Biden release them?" I am NOT saying he did anything Epstein like, but I am sure as evidence was compiled in both Florida and NY, Trump's name is riddled throughout.

How did Ms Maxwell ever get convicted then?
Maxwell faced persistent allegations of procuring and sexually trafficking underage girls for Epstein and others, charges she denied.[10] Maxwell was arrested in Bradford, New Hampshire by the FBI on 2 July 2020, through the use of an IMSI-catcher ("stingray") mobile phone tracking device on a phone used by her to call one of her lawyers, her husband Scott Borgerson, and her sister Isabel.[108]

Prosecutors, led by United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Audrey Strauss, charged Maxwell with six federal crimes, including enticement of minors, sex trafficking of children, and perjury.[109][110] The indictment charged that between 1994 and 1997, she "assisted, facilitated, and contributed" to the abuse of minor girls despite knowing that one of three unnamed victims was 14 years old.[111]

As of 28 April 2021, Maxwell was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn, New York.[112][113][114] Lawyers requested that Judge Nathan release her on $5 million bond with monitored home confinement while awaiting trial.[115] Maxwell appeared by video link before a court in Manhattan on 14 July 2020 and pleaded not guilty to the charges.[116] A naturalised US citizen since 2002 who also holds passports from France and the United Kingdom, Maxwell was denied bail as a flight risk amid concerns regarding her "completely opaque" finances, her skill at living in hiding, and the fact that France does not extradite its citizens.[14][115][117] The judge set a trial date of 12 July 2021.[116][118][119]

Maxwell's attorney reiterated her request for bail on 18 December 2020, and proposed that Maxwell reside with a friend in New York City while under 24-hour surveillance as she awaited trial.[120] Her husband, Scott Borgerson, made a secured offer of US$22 million to guarantee her presence at future appearances.[120] On 28 December 2020, a further request for bail was again rejected by the judge.[121] Maxwell's bail request was opposed by alleged victim Annie Farmer.[120]

On 19 January 2021, a court hearing was disrupted by believers in QAnon – who believe Maxwell to be working in cohort with a cabal of child-sacrificing Satanist liberal elites who traffic children for sex – as the proceedings were illegally livestreamed to YouTube.[122][123]

On 26 January 2021, a motion by Maxwell's attorneys challenged her grand jury indictment, claiming that it did not reflect the ethnic diversity of the jurisdiction in which the violations of the law were alleged to have occurred.[124]

On 29 March 2021, US prosecutors added new charges of sex trafficking a minor and sex trafficking conspiracy, alleging that Maxwell was involved in grooming a fourth girl, aged 14, to engage in sexual acts with Epstein between 2001 and 2004 at his residence in Palm Beach.[125][126] Maxwell pleaded not guilty to the additional charges; she faced six counts that included sex trafficking of a minor and sex trafficking conspiracy, in addition to two counts of perjury.[127]

Maxwell's attorneys regularly protested about the conditions of her confinement, which included being kept awake by a light shone in her eyes every fifteen minutes to deter the chances of her committing suicide, and being denied a sleep mask.[128] One, David Markus, protested, "There's no evidence she's suicidal. They're doing it because Jeffrey Epstein died on their watch", and "She's not Jeffrey Epstein, this isn't right".[128]

Sex-trafficking trial

In April 2021, US District Judge Alison Nathan ruled that Maxwell would face two separate trials, one for the sex trafficking charges and another for perjury.[129] Nathan delayed the first trial to 29 November 2021 after Maxwell's defence lawyers successfully argued that the new charges added in March 2021 did not give them enough time to prepare for trial.[130] Maxwell appeared in court on 15 November 2021.[131] The trial commenced on 29 November with opening statements.[130] Twelve jurors had been picked, plus six alternates, from a pool of forty to sixty people.[132]

Psychology professor Elizabeth Loftus was called as an expert witness for the defence and provided testimony on false memory syndrome.[133]

Maxwell chose not to testify, telling the judge "Your honour, the government has not proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. So there is no need for me to testify." A spokesperson for Maxwell's family had previously said she was "too fragile" to testify.[134]

In early December 2021, Twitter suspended the account "@TrackerTrial", an account monitoring Maxwell's trial. The account was two weeks old and had 525,000 followers before its suspension.[135][136][137]

On 28 December, as infections from COVID-19 rose in the city, judge Nathan extended the jury's sitting times, as she was concerned that juror infections would raise the possibility of a mistrial.[138][139]

On 29 December 2021, Maxwell was convicted by a jury in US federal court on five sex trafficking-related counts carrying a potential custodial sentence of up to 65 years' imprisonment: one of sex trafficking of a minor (maximum: 40 years), one of transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (10 years) and three of conspiracy to commit choate felonies (15 years total).[140]

Maxwell was acquitted on the charge of enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.[1][2][3] Maxwell's family said the appeal process had begun.[141][142]

The only witness to use her real name during her testimony, Annie Farmer, spoke out after the trial saying, "I hope that this verdict brings solace to all who need it ... Even those with great power and privilege will be held accountable when they sexually abuse and exploit the young."[143]

A retrial was sought on the grounds that a juror did not disclose during jury selection that he had been sexually abused as a child. He had shared a narrative of that abuse with other jurors during the proceedings.[144][145] On 1 April 2022, the judge found that the juror's failure to disclose his abuse as a child did not warrant a new trial and dismissed Maxwell's request to set aside the verdict.[146]

On 28 June 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison;[147] prosecutors were seeking a sentence of at least 30 years.[148] She complained of threats coming from jail staff in the days prior to sentencing, but gave no details about the nature of the threats. Although she had been placed on suicide watch on 24 June,[149][150] she told the psychiatric team that she was not suicidal. A related request by her lawyers for a sentencing delay was denied.[151] She appealed the conviction on 7 July.[152] On 25 July 2022, Maxwell was transferred from Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn to a low security federal prison for female inmates at FCI Tallahassee.[153] She is scheduled to be released on 17 July 2037.[112] In August 2022, her former lawyers sued Maxwell, alleging that she failed to pay $878,000 in legal fees.[154]

On 17 September 2024, three judges at Manhattan's Second US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Maxwell's five convictions and sentence. In response, her lawyer said she would appeal to the US Supreme Court.[155][156]

E: Said of his own MAGA base asking these questions - "Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!"

HOWEVER - having said all that - Trump is not helping himself!

It's hard to imagine something this big being kept a secret, but I might be very naive about that. I'm like you, though. His response to this is strange unless he's worried about something in the files. Why try to brush it aside when you know your MAGA folks want it? This would be an easy give for him.

ETA: Then again, he's just not very smart, so...
