Do you agree with the President on border enforcement and illegal aliens?

They need immigrants (legal and illegal, in the country now and not). Trump understands that we need workers, many for jobs that no one else will do. Trump will NOT cripple the economy, no matter how much Navarro and Miller push him to do so.
I dont think so. We most certainly do not need illegal workers. As time goes on and AI does more and more we are going to need these jobs for American workers. There are unscrupulous people everywhere. And many of them in America are taking advantage of illegals. It needs to stop. Illegals are taking away jobs from Americans. I dont think we've tapped out at all.

I've heard the doom and gloom. I'll believe it when I see it. Illegals are a drain on a lot of things and the only pockets they are lining are the employers who pay them poorly.

...apparently Trump has heard a lot of "doom and gloom" from industry heads, otherwise he would not be talking about carving out exceptions for agriculture, hospitality, etc.

Anyway, Republicans have a chance now to fix the legal immigration system. That is, if they really are interested in solutions.

Absolutely, but i honestly have lost any faith in Congress to do anything on immigration.

Thank you so much for the image of AI doing farm work, construction work, cleaning hotel rooms, and cleaning bedpans at nursing homes.

Fixing the system seems far-fetched.

They can
1) secure the border (done)
2) secure legal status for undocumented workers here over 5 years with no non-immigration felony convictions (being considered in the House)
3) secure rules for more green cards for workers, especially for badly needed tech workers
4) secure citizenship for Dreamers here over 5 years (brought in illegally by their parents)

Anything?

Workers are needed to do work in agriculture, construction, hotels and fast food restaurants.

I suppose that Congress could choose to pass nothing and allow Trump to pass temporary rules that will be gone with the first Democratic president.

Implementing 1-4 would be a big step. I'm skeptical they'll get past #1. We'll see if the White House get's behind the "Dignity Act" introduced to the House this week by a Republican with bi-partisan co-signers.

No. AI is going to take other jobs leaving Americans needing a job. Which mmeans jobs that illegals are doing.

1) Yes done.
2) No- how would you know they have been here over 5 years?
3) Absolutely
4) No- Go home and apply to come in legally. Just like everyone else has to.

Yea, that's reasonable. Ask a 20 year old to go back to a country they never knew and wait 8 years to get their green card.

While wait times vary, a green card can be obtained within a few months.

Approximately 818,500 individuals became legal citizens of the United States each year.

Yeah, if only information about it could be looked up. It's too bad I don't have access to that. It's also too bad when someone makes a baseless remark as a rebuttal, instead of actually refuting info with counter info.

Top of the agenda, of course, is that there shouldn't be a next Democratic President. But I was talking about withinn the administration. Some of Trump's constituents want criminals prioritized. Some want illegal workers prioritized but some want them left alone. Some want asylum seekers prioritized for cultural reasons, and so on. It's hard to formulate a coherent policy based on all that.

Hey, if you want to believe a green card can be obtained "in a few months" - so be it. That will come to news to tens of thousands of people who have waited years to get a green card.

some would put affordable and accessible food, lodgings and health care higher on our list of priorities

some would put spiritual health and family higher

some would put treating others with kindness and dignity higher

and yes, some would be selfish enough to put higher the need to have workers available in our hotels and restaurants and to pick our food each season.
=====
It is your type of priority that has crippled the country in this century.

And since this is a Christian site, I will remind all that Jesus gave us our priorities by his life example and in the Sermon on the Mount.

That's MAGA, but they have to struggle not to be seen doing it.

Yeah, well. That's just me. crippling the country by being critical of the Trump administration.

I don't think the Christian Right wants any part of that.

The US has many programs.

HOWEVER, there is a H2A program for businesses to hire temporary foreign farm workers which takes about 75 days.
