Christian reality TV star Chip Gaines has defended his newest television series, which features a same-sex couple, saying it is consistent with the Christian commandment to "love one another."

"Back to the Frontier," a new series from executive producers Chip and Joanna Gaines, which premiered on Thursday on the couple's Magnolia Network, features a gay couple as one of three couples living as homesteaders did in the 1800s, without access to running water or electricity.

Jason and Joe Hanna-Riggs appeared on the series along with their two children, Realtor.com reports. Chip and Joanna Gaines, best known for hosting the home improvement reality TV show "Fixer Upper," have been outspoken about their Christian faith over the years.

I work at Target and a lot of her stuff is sold there. I know they attended a Reformed Church that didn't support the gays. I wonder what made them change their mind? Hmmm....

Perhaps they did not change their mind. Perhaps they believed this all along. Many persons attend churches in which they disagree with one or more of the church's tenets.

I have a nephew who attends that church, and he said they are never there. Maybe they attended before they became famous.

From looking at the church's website, it is not reformed. It is an evangelical church.

Chip and Joanna Gaines: When popularity wins over God's truth

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the beloved duo behind the HGTV sensation “Fixer Upper,” have long presented themselves as exemplars of Christian family life.

That image, or perhaps mirage, that had been built over the years was instantly shattered with one social media post recently.

On Thursday, July 10, Chip Gaines took to X to cheerfully spread the word about their new show on the Magnolia Network, titled “Back to the Frontier.”

“Y’all are going to love this show!! Social experiment + family time well spent,” he promised.

Social experiment? Yes. Family time well-spent? Not exactly. And no, we did not love it.

Chip unfortunately glossed over a pretty big detail: The show features two men in a so-called “same sex” marriage. Even worse, these are men who have “adopted” (purchased) children via surrogacy.
