I was here for the Rodney King riots. This is nowhere near that in scope. 60 people died in 1992. Now that's some rioting. (And we called out the guard.)

LA is functioning as normal.

Certainly 99.4% of it is. The Philharmonic had to cancel a concert because they're in the downtown night-time curfew zone.

I've heard that some hot rounds may have done something like that. The flamboyant Waymo burnings, though, were clearly the result of vandals in the mob (who were not very good at it -- I understand they were lighting their spraypaint spray and it took them quite some time to get a fire going after they broke the windows). I watched it live on TV. Unless ICE is embedding people in the crowd, that wasn't them.

LAPD had the unenviable job of moving the protestors away from the federal building the other day; my assumption was that it was to prevent the protestors and the NG from going toe to toe. It was not a warrant raid on a criminal organization. Judicial warrants aren't being issued, blanket administrative warrants are being issued sporadically. And no, the IRS, ATF, and FBI are not involved.
