Mysterious Riot Gear Handed Out to LA Protesters Raises Questions

Footage of the scene showed boxes of solid, full-face masks—almost akin to helmets—being handed out from the back of a pickup truck by two women while a masked driver waited for them to unload the goods.

The footage has sparked concerns among some that external agitators are facilitating riots by equipping crowds for potential clashes with the police or National Guard. However, others say the masks are safety gear, worn as a precaution after protesters were injured by rubber bullets that the authorities fired.

There's no mystery here.

The government of Mexico is handing out the gear in preperation for the invasion.

You'd think that if it really was an invasion that ICE would tell us when they arrested and invader, brag about it and tell us who he was and what was going to happen to him. As it is, if they did pick up anyone in their sweep of the Lowe's parking lot they won't say. If we are supposed to pretend that they are actual invaders, then if they are captured we ought to treat them at least according to the Geneva Convention.

And so operation "take our country back" begins.

I bet we have more fire power than the drug cartels and human traffickers, and those who protest and riot in their name.

I'm fine with rolling tanks through LA if it means we get it back from Mexican nationals who are trying to take it over.

People want to play games when it's real life. Watching our cities burn to the ground is not optional.

Where have you seen protesters supporting drug cartels and human traffickers?

This is certainly a concern, that the 'professional protestors', anarchists and/or accelerationists are co-opting the situation.

What fanciful nonsense. I will not insult you by assuming that you actually believe that fairy story, but I wonder what your motive is for telling it.

I do not support any form of violent protest. I disapprove of the LA protest that involved burning cars, damaging stores, and attacking law enforcement. To avoid any misunderstanding, I want to reiterate that I do not approve of any kind of violence, regardless of the reason.

However, I am curious about how we can simultaneously condemn violent street protests while supporting a constitutional amendment that states:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Nah, that amendment is just about the right of Real True Christian Patriots to protect themselves against America-hating liberals.

Certainly it doesn't legitimize the bearing of dangerous face shields that may violently assault batons, as in the OP. It only refers to instruments of peace and politeness.

All over the country on the news. Everytime ICE goes to pick up yet another murderer, rapist, terrorist, human trafficker, drug dealer and cartel member, someone in Congress grandstands, people in the media incite the riot and off the people go to have their revolution at the expense of Americans just trying to get to work and earn enough of a living to keep a roof over there heads without having their daughters raped, their sons murdered and their businesses burned to the ground because elected officials won't lift their pinky to help

Something like that anyway. We pay for services, not an apocalypse-now devolving of society.

Oh. On the news. I guess that settles it.
Everytime ICE goes to pick up yet another murderer, rapist, terrorist, human trafficker, drug dealer and cartel member,
So everybody ICE picks up is a murderer, rapist, terrorist, human trafficker, drug dealer or cartel member. Got it.

My understanding is that rape, murder, drug dealing, trafficking, gang activity, etc.are still being actively prosecuted by the regular police, and ICE has no jusisdiction unless immigration issues are involved.
Something like that anyway. We pay for services, not an apocalypse-now devolving of society.
It looks to me like you're getting both. Especially the second at the expense of the first.

How is it unrelated? The question is whether the U.S. Constitution grants American citizens the right to bear arms to stand up to a government they consider oppressive. If so, does the U.S. Constitution also grant American citizens the right to wear masks or riot gear for the same purpose?
