CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said on Monday that President Donald Trump’s approval rating on the issue of immigration has skyrocketed among the American electorate.

Trump’s current net approval rating is above water at +1 point, which surged by 20 points since June 2017, Enten said, citing his own aggregate data. Trump on Saturday deployed the National Guard to combat riots that erupted across Los Angeles stemming from ICE arrests of illegal immigrants.

Trump’s net approval rating] has gone up like a rocket,” Enten said. “Compare now versus eight years ago during Trump’s first term. Look at this, in his first term, Trump was way, way, way underwater at -21 points. But look at this, he’s up [by] over 20 points now in the aggregate, he is in positive territory at +1 point on his net approval rating. Some other polls even have it a little higher than that.”

“There is no issue on which Trump is doing so much better than he was in his first term more than the issue of immigration,” Enten continued.

A majority of Americans, 54% and 51%, approve of Trump’s mass deportations and of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents searching their communities to locate illegal immigrants, a CBS News pollreleased on Monday found. Enten added that a majority of Americans who are “directly connected” to the events going on in Los Angeles, California, approve of Trump’s actions to combat illegal immigration.

Even in the light of the crazy stuff going in California Trump’s approval rating with regards to immigration is higher. What say you?

Keep the discussions civil please.

Yeah, now that Trump has the right kind of yes-men behind him, he can really hit the illegal immigration situation hard. Of course, the trick is figuring out to do with all those illegal aliens once they're rounded up. At the rate they're going, Trump will either need to ignore the law and ship them out of the country quickly, or arrange a whole lotta detention facilities as fast as he can.

I support the idea of vast tent camps in Texas and Florida. What could go wrong?

Given the economy it isn’t surprising. Why would you want your resources going to strangers that could be helping citizens? People were cheering when he made cuts to social programs and illegals are lower on the totem pole. The majority would look aside if he deported them with no due process.

The gathering was declared unlawful at 7:51pm , how many people would know about it
before then?
cbs stops gathering polls at 9pm
and all of this is before the national guard
Never did I claim that the poll and the protests were related. In light of does not means because of. I do however find it interesting that the poll came out around the same time. The unrest in California and other blue states though began way before the poll.

Hopefully a lot of them will just go back home on their own. That's the real goal.
Why would they want to leave states and cities in the USA that are giving them free stuff?

The ladies on the View were speculating that Trump's extreme actions--calling in the National Guard in LA for what had been an overwhelmingly peaceful protest until Trump marched in 2000 National Guard Troops--are escalating into unconstitutional lunacy because Americans are waking up and are angry about the economy, inflation, job losses, cuts in the House Budget Bill, and almost everything else.

He figures they still are happy with his immigration policies. It seems as if many of his supporters are finding this hostile and inhumane aggression as a way they can channel their anger about everything else. Like, "Tariffs are making things more expensive, but what he's doing to those immigrants makes up for it."

It's not working for me. He's the one who should be punished---not these poor immigrants. And if the Supreme Court hadn't have made the ruling America will forever regret last summer, he'd have earned another 20 or so felony convictions by now.

After what happened in LA, his polls are going to go up again. Americans k ow that the riots happened before the NG was called in. We are sick of the lefts violence and sick of the lawlessness and the lefts protectionism for illegals.

The mid terms are coming and the Republicans have been handed a gift by the Democrats who support this insanity. The Democrats have do e NOTHING to garner the support of Americans.

It almost sounds like all of this, to include the deployment of the NG, was intentional. As you point out only the right and Trump stand to benefit from the optics of all this destruction. It wouldn’t be the first riot he’s caused to sway the public in his favor.

These riots are caused by radical pro-illegal immigration activists. These riots are also enabled by the "sanctuary laws" of the progressive liberal governments in LA and the state of California.

Maybe. Or they could be instigated by Peter Thiel funded anti-immigrant profesional agitators brought in to make the legitimate protesters look bad.

There are no sanctuary laws that make it ok to riot. That’s why the LAPD were there to shut it down.

The LAPD chief said they were overwhelmed. Maybe Newsom can call the NG under title 32 to give them a hand. After all they are already there,

I think Trump is rhe one rhat called all his leftist buddies and let them know he was sending ICE so they could organize the riots.
