Hi Bob! Welcome.I was a borderline atheist until an experience left me "unsure." Up for debate and discussion as long as things remain cordial.
The Lord is calling you to Himself. If the impact is this strong and this convicting it definitely is not a result of being drunk. It is a result of God having mercy on you and turning you to walk the way you did instead of into the water where you could have drowned. This is not coincidence brother. Come to the family and become an adopted child of God and see yourself what we see that you can't see right now!OK, a little extra background on my "experience" I was as I said an agnostic but with no actual belief. I was on holiday with someone I liked (a lot). Things were probably never going to progress but the day she left for home I got very drunk. I left the bar and faced a decision - turn right for my room, turn left and walk into the sea. I was turning right to be fair but I spotted a small church and walked inside. In my state I asked for help and was slightly "ill"
I saw a light and felt warmth! To quote the Pink Floyd song "I turned to look but it was gone" but I was left with an overwhelming sense of guilt, shame and warmth.
To this day I do not know if what I saw was real or just the product of excessive alcohol and depression. I am still an "unbeliever" and an agnostic, but I wish that moment had lasted longer.
