Things are definitely out of control in LA

I think that the reason things are "definitely out of control in LA" is the actions of the Trump administration. The Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass had a good point: The city was quiet and peaceful on Thursday. It was not until the ICE raids on Friday that an "out of control" situation occurred.

and I'm glad Trump is trying to do something about

I think that their actions precipitated a bad situation, and rather than changing course they've doubled down. That's not "doing something about it", that's generating a crisis and then rolling in the military to attempt to suppress it.

it but he should tread lightly when it comes to using the military .
National Guard is fine though

The National Guard are still "the military" though. Just a reserve formation.

The area where the violence is taking place is very small and confined to a few blocks.

The red shading on the map below shows the area of the map above in comparison to the LA metro. You may have to look hard to find it.

The situation in Los Angeles isn't out of control and the violence isn't widespread. There's no reason for 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to be sent there. Trump is creating a crisis by doing so.

It's a tiny protest in the immediate vacinity of the downtown federal buildings. Hundreds of people, even more cops and NG.
Yeah a tiny protest, setting police cars on fire, throwing cinder blocks at them, tiny protests grow into major riots if left unattended

Ah, but that’s just it…. I’m challenging your claim that there were any illegals involved. I don’t know of too many riots caused or led by illegals in this country but there are many, many examples of riotous violence coming from both sides of the aisle of American citizens. From George Floyd to Jan 6 to any sports related riots, most all of these are caused, led and instigated by American citizens.

Much more likely these are just American punks causing all this destruction.
How do you get "many examples of riotous violence" from one incident? Are there others that I am missing?

I didn't say anything about no violence, only that it wasn't large or out of control. There are more guardsmen in downtown LA than protestors, but they're not particularly useful. LAPD has things under control.

I just watched live video of the crowd encroaching on the police and moving them backwards.
I don't exactly see that as under control

According to you he's keeping it contained to a small area

The LAPD, CHP, and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department have been able to keep the violence contained to a small area.

What is your solution for this situation?
Stop poking the bear. Trump has promised to rid the US of the really bad dudes that are in the country illegally. But people who are getting swept up in all this are people trying to earn a crust to feed their families. Guys washing dishes in a fast food outlet. Guys peeling potatoes in a diner. And the way that this is being done is completely over the top. And people are not being granted due process. We know this as a fact.

So gee, what do you think is going to happen - apart from the countless court cases that are being run through the courts? People are going to become frustrated. Friends and family members and co-workers are going to get angry. They are going to complain. And they are going to protest. Especially when they see the National Guard being federalised against the explicit demands of the state governor. And now, how on earth this can be justified, you've got armed marines being sent in. Your country's forces, sworn to protect the US from its enemies, are facing off against its citizens!

You keep slapping people down, you keep trampling on their rights, you keep lying to them and what in blue blazes do you think is going to happen? And this isn't incompetence by the administration. It is willful escalation. Trump sat on his butt and did nothing when people were breaking into the Capitol and assaulting police. Absolutely nothing. And now because there are protests against the galactically stupid actions of the administration, he sends not just the National Guard but the Marines.

This is going to get much worse. And you better come to terms with who will be to blame.

I was talking about the situation in LA specifically.
Everyone else in this thread is talking about how small the protest is and how Law enforcement has it under control.
If that's the case, how is it going to spread like you're predicting?
I don't have a problem with the National Guard being there (though it's more for show than anything) but the Marines shouldn't be there.
The military cannot be deployed on US soil against US citizens unless the insurrection act is invoked. I don't think this qualifies

Is this comment to be taken seriously?

'Donald Trump has claimed that Los Angeles would have been "completely obliterated" if he hadn't sent in the National Guard.'

Does anyone think this is 'presidential'?

Trump said: "The very incompetent 'Governor,' Gavin Newscum, and 'Mayor,' Karen Bass, should be saying, 'THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR.'"

That's the point. Trump is clearly trying to provoke something that will allow him to do it

What is your solution for this situation?

The LAPD and other local law agencies know the area, local groups, protestors and the anarchist types the best....let them handle it. As they were before Trump decided to exploit the situation Saturaday evening.

Speculation then.

Trump has never presented any evidence to back up his claim that countries are sending their criminals. He's made this claim during all of his campaigns....and apparently some of his followers take him at his word. The last incident I recall was the Murielb boatlift from Cuba in 1980 when Fidel Castro emptied his prisoins. It has not occurred since.

How many vehicles and police cars being burned and how much property damage is considered acceptable?

Do we even know how many police vehicles were burned? Do you really think one the nation's largest police forces is unable to handle a few small scale riots?
Besides, the National Guard, acting as a federalized force, are not permitted to control rioters or perform general police activies. They are relegated to protecting federal assets. Has there been any damage to Federal buildings?

It's applicable everywhere. It's going to spread. Trump is making the situation worse. There will be violence. People are going to get hurt. You'd better pray that no-one gets killed, but that's definitely on the cards.

'The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) said its members would hold rallies in over a dozen cities across the country, following the arrest of one of its members, David Huerta, during the riots in LA.' Map shows locations where anti-ICE protests are planned amid LA riots

Another person from the press injured by a rubber bullet. This one more seriously. Not life threatening, but these things can kill.

'A British news photographer has undergone emergency surgery after being hit by a non-lethal bullet while documenting the stand-off between police and protesters in the US city of Los Angeles.' British photographer injured by 'plastic bullet' during LA protests

A bunch of Americans running around waving Mexican flags?
Yeah. If you didn’t know Americans come from all over the world. Even from Mexico.
I think illegals are involved as well as Americans. The fact that Mexican flags are being waved is at least something. More than what you have.
You think the Mexican flag = illegal?

That’s just more of your own bias showing.

Sans evidence either way it's a matter of conjecture.
