Thread title: "Fewer international tourists are visiting the U.S. — economic losses could be ‘staggering,’ researchers estimate." The assertion is people are afraid to visit the US because of Trump, thus tourism is supposedly suffering greatly or is supposedly going to suffer greatly. The person I replied to posted how good tourism is doing.
What I posted pertained to your assertion tourism in Seattle is taking a hit because of the activity given the video you posted.
I posted numbers showing that is false.
Domestic travel is up, leading to the increased numbers, while international travel is down all because of Trump.

The topic is international tourism is supposedly going to be low because people are terrified of Trump. I suggested that other things might also be deterring international tourists such as inflation and city streets filled with drug addicts.

'Terror' is clearly not the only reason: anger, mistrust, and disgust are also evident.

Trump's "America First" policies are causing international travellers to consider America as a destination much further down the list than first.

That's the claim and prediction being made by the left.

Your suggestions don't comport with reality. Inflation isn't high right now and, as noted earlier, the dollar is trending downward. Against historical norms, the dollar index is high, but it's the lowest it's been in 3 years, which covers the time span of much of the data that's been bandied around in this thread. Additionally, you've not shown that addiction problems have been getting any worse.

No, the topic is not that international tourism is going to be low because people are "terrified" of Trump.

It is going to be less because many from other countries do not want to be abused at immigration, and do not like Trump and his policies at all.

The denial of inflation and a growing drug and crime problem has been going on for quite awhile.

From the article:

"Whether fair or not, a perception is taking hold that more people are being detained, more devices [are] being searched and legal travelers [are] being deported back to their origin country," Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, told CNBC earlier this month. "That creates a great deal of fear."

The assertion that they are in a great deal of fear, terrified, or however one wants to put it, is pretty prevalent throughout the media. And fingers are pointing to Trump as being responsible for it. Personally I blame media sensationalism.

"terrified by Trump " does not convey the story though. Fear of being strip searched or denied entry after spending all the money to get here, or being unjustly relocated to El Salvador gulag or the Sudan or some other unsafe location is what folks are afraid of.
They are disgusted by Trump, and fear the results of the policies.

I am the OP, you know.

I'm sorry but that equates to what I said in my mind.

The inflation rate has been declining for almost two years now:

What's your evidence that our drug and crime problems are growing? We had another thread talking about how murders in several major cities are way down this year - here in Baltimore, we're on track to have our lowest number of murders since, IIRC, the 60's.

With all due respect also - I have not seen proof that the international travel has slowed - only news reports and pearl clutching.
Oh come on! How about do a check with how many airline companies from Canada have dropped U.S. destinations. Ask ChatGPT all about this. It will give you quite a run down.
If you would like to post actual numbers and facts from a reliable source - like the Department of transportation - or travel.gov
You might do well not to trust that. If it's government U.S. perhaps NOT to be trusted.

Yet the cost of most things is very high. Causing people to cut back on luxuries.

My evidence is the video I posted and dozens of others like it taken from all over the country of drug addicts all over the place, and rampant crime taking place, a lot of which is in the form of theft. The drug addicts are stealing because they need to sell stuff to get drug money and because they can't buy stuff because they can't hold a job.

Thank you.

You have made a valid point. I too have not encountered a comprehensive report indicating a downward trend in the tourism industry in the United States due to decreased foreign visitors. If this is your argument, I concur with your assessment.

However .....

Reports from various media sources suggest that the tourism industry in the northern United States is facing difficulties as customer numbers decline. States such as Minnesota, North Dakota, and Washington are experiencing challenges due to a reduction of more than 70% in Canadian visitors.

Media outlets in Canada and Europe, along with several governments including Germany and France, are advising their citizens against traveling to the United States, similar to advisories for Sudan and other countries.

Canadian public sentiment toward the United States has worsened. The Liberal party's influence increased by nearly 40% since February, leading to an election victory.

The reality can be acknowledged, or skepticism can be expressed through economic forecasts. Regardless, it remains evident that the opinions of citizens in Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia towards the United States have become increasingly negative.

or

We can wait another six months to see a comprehensive report and evidence, if you prefer.
If people can't acknowledge what you've said to be true then they've got their minds totally influenced by Fox news and who refuse to get out of their echo chamber

So how about you blame Trump for some things. How about you blame Trump for embarrassing the U.S. to the World by trying to strip away a little bit of pride the Mexicans had in the name of the Gulf of Mexico and changing it to Gulf of America? How about you blame Trump for all the talk of wanting to take over Greenland? Or for mocking my Canadian nation suggesting we don't even have a valid government and talking of making it the 51st? Sorry but you should know most of the World views the U.S. much how Germany was thought of in WW2. I know Trump looks upon his "take over" statements like a cute little joke but most of the World had lived through this type of thing before and they're not amused.

Ok, so your "evidence" amounts to anecdotes to which you haven't even tried to demonstrate any correlation to tourism, much less a causative effect. Is that about it?

Footage of actual events transpiring isn't anecdotal. The rest is opinion and speculation, as the topic itself is a matter of prognostication, speculation and opinion.

...airlines who have reduced their flights to the United States are doing so based on speculation?
