I agree. Never said otherwise.

But. It’s Trump. Anyone surprised?

No. Not that I’m defending him. I’m not.

Once you add in the ~1,500 pro-MAGA people pardoned for federal crimes related to the January 6th breach of the Capitol, those 237 dwindle in significance. Before becoming Trump's Pardon Attorney, Ed Martin represented some of them in court. And supported them with the same no one 'left behind' phraseology from the start of Trump 2.0.

The 1500 is a class action and pales to insignificance when compared to his processor. I have not followed your other threads so I am going to do a search to read how upset you were when Biden just 15 minutes before leaving office, issued a final round of pardons. Among the recipients were close family members—including his brothers, sister, and in-laws—as well as key figures from his administration like Dr. Anthony Fauci and General Mark Milley. He also pardoned political allies, including members of the congressional January 6 committee. This capped off a month in which Biden granted thousands of pardons to what he described as non-violent federal offenders and commuted nearly all federal death sentences.

Biden has granted pardons and commutations to more than 8,000 individuals, which is more than any other modern president. Thousands of Biden’s clemency grants went to serious offenders—including murderers, child abusers, and even Rita Crundwell, the most prolific municipal embezzler in U.S. history. Several well-connected Democrats also benefited. In both 2022 and 2024, Biden used his pardon power to enact sweeping sentence reductions that Congress had rejected—mirroring President Obama’s mass commutations of drug sentences.

So I am going to see what you had to say about that.

He’s doing what is best for his interest. Not that I’m defending all of his actions, but I’m not surprised at all.
If you voted for him surely you would be disappointed and perhaps even remorseful.

General Mille, Dr Fauci, Cheney, Kinzinger and so many others were the targets of a vindictive egotist striking back although they were 110% innocent.
The death penalty is condemned by the Catholic Church and other religious groups. When Biden commuted their sentences he was following a higher law.

Were they "political allies" as per the topic of this thread? No, therefore off topic.

Well? As much as I hated to vote for him, I still couldn't stomach the other option. I'm tired of both ends, quite frankly.

Many of them were. But suffice it to say, you are correct. This thread is not about a true evaluation of facts but more of a focused hit piece on a president you dislike. It highlights why we fail as human beings in self governance. To God be the glory for the glory of mankind has fallen in all of us.

This is a popular meme of mankind. My side is pure as the driven snow but the other guy smells like the sulfer of hell. Your opinion is firm and so are the Trump supporters opinion. But looking to politics for solutions that will never come seems like a fools game.

There are orople who deserve to be pardoned and those that dont. All presidents have used this authority and I bet if we did an analysis most presidents have pardoned some that shouldn't have been.

There are those whom Trump has pardoned that shouldnt have been in my opinion. I dont know and honestly dont care enough to dive into any specific case. But those that assaulted officers shouldnt be pardoned. Some of those fraudsters and embezzelors shouldnt be either.

Once again we have a press and leftists who are hypocritical as the day is long. They despise Trump so badly. I dont recall them railing against Biden or Obama for the pardons they gave out to those who shouldnt have been.

I will add that many on this board did state that Biden shouldnt have handed out the pardon to Hunter. But most certainly it wasnt with the same vitriol as used against Trump.

But presidents can use the pardon as they see fit, and thats that.

What does Dr. Fauci, who has saved millions through his leadership on HIV, Ebola, Covid, flux, etc. have to do with white collar criminals who embezzled millions?

What does Dr. Fauci, who has saved millions through his leadership on HIV, Ebola, Covid, flux, etc. have to do with white collar criminals who embezzled millions?
This is an unsupported Assertion (a.k.a. Bare Assertion Fallacy) by presenting a claim as true without offering any supporting evidence or reasoning.

In this case:

"Dr. Fauci, who has saved millions through his leadership on HIV, Ebola, Covid, flux, etc."
— is a sweeping claim, presented as fact, without any specific data, examples, or references to support it.

Even if the claim is plausible or widely believed, in a logical argument, especially one meant to persuade or refute, such assertions need backing.

You are also using an Appeal to Popularity (Argumentum ad Populum) If your intent is to say, “everyone knows Fauci saved millions,” without evidence, it flirts with this fallacy too—relying on perceived consensus rather than proof.

Stating accomplishments without supporting them weakens the argument and borders on bare assertion. If the accomplishments are meant to function as part of a logical defense or comparison, then omitting evidence makes it a rhetorical appeal, not a sound argument.

Read his biography, and stand in awe of brilliance combined with integrity overa long career. All the footnotes you'd ever need to eat your words.

Trump's pardons hail from the Rogues gallery. In practice, he seems to shun the good the way the Wicked Witch of the West shunned water. I'll take someone who is endorsed by Bono before a friend of P Diddy any day.

On X, there is a campaign to get Tina Peters pardoned.
A quarter dozen [thanks Fark headline-writer] people came to support Mike Lindell at his trial (and a Tina Peters mention).

A look at Trump’s controversial pardons for political allies and loyalists

In his second term, President Trump has moved to pardon many who are considered to be loyal to him, from local Republican officials convicted of fraud to Jan. 6 rioters. The New York Times reported that Trump pardoned a Florida businessman convicted of tax evasion after his mother attended a million dollar per-plate fundraising dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Laura Barrón-López discussed more with Liz Oyer. [Oyer formerly held the position of DOJ Pardon Attorney until being fired by Trump.]
Shouldn't what is sauce for the goose also be sauce for the gander?
