Musk's Government Slashing Took Place When He Was Under the Influence of Ketamine, Ecstasy, Adderall, and More

Citing “people familiar with his activity,” The New York Times reports that the tech mogul has been consuming ketamine sometimes daily, often mixing it with other drugs. His usage allegedly increased as he took on a more active political role—first as a prominent supporter of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, and later as the de facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)...
Musk also allegedly uses Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and weight loss drugs, and travels with a daily medication box that holds about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall, according to a photo of the box and people who have seen it.

In a 2024 interview with Don Lemon, Musk acknowledged that he uses ket9amine as a prescribed treatment for negative moods, but denied that he indulged in the drug.
The buck should stop with the president, who gave him sweeping powers with no accountability. (I guess he didn't become a federal employee because he couldn't pass the drug tests.) If only we could undo all the damage he's done before 2029.

Hopefully he gets the help he needs.

What about restoring all the damage he caused while in on drugs? What about help for the tens of thousands he laid off, and the hundreds of thousands of veterans and others who were harmed because the agencies they depended on were understaffed or obliterated entirely?

It seems a foregone conclusion that someone who's regularly stoned on narcotics wouldn't be the most successful business person on earth who's achieved a net worth of 430 billion dollars.

Others have carried that second-rate programmer his whole life.

The bank of Mummy and Daddy, which allowed him to buy shares and a spot on the board of PayPal.
The board of PayPal, who kicked him out because of his silly ideas and made the company success.
The scientists and engineers of Tesla, who are smart enough to ignore his silly ideas but pretend they are following them.
The US government/taxpayers, who give him vast sums of money to make expensive fireworks.

Once you have money, it's easy to pay people to make you more. Even Trump, whose businesses keep going bankrupt because of his ineptitude.

If they had been born to poor families they would be nobodies.

Sorry but I don't see how that and supposedly being a druggie objectively adds up to someone being the most successful businessman on earth twice over.

I don’t see how being rich equates to being infallible the way you seem to be implying, but hey, you do you.

No what I'm saying is the picture being painted of Musk doesn't fit where he's at in the world of business success. Which is way beyond anyone else. I don't think that astronomical level of success is something someone who's all doped up could achieve. To me that's an extremely silly notion.

You are equating wealth with success. These are not the same thing.

You’ve never known any high-functioning alcoholics or drug abusers? Also, my understanding (as described at the very beginning of the OP article) is that his drug abuse is relatively new, or at least has ramped up quite a bit in the last couple years. He hasn’t had any business successes in that time that I can think of: Tesla had already started to stagnate and lose marketshare; the Cybertruck is a flop; he talked his way into an accidental takeover of Twitter which he immediately made worse and less valuable; SpaceX has done some cool things, but that was set up before he went nuts; Starlink was also up and going before he went nuts. His net worth has climbed in that time, but that seems to mainly because driven by hype and hope, not business fundamentals.

I think the argument that Musk wouldn't take drugs because he's rich is hilarious. Especially since he's been smoking weed with Joe Rogan on camera. But hey, why would you believe your lying eyes when you should believe the man's bank account?

He's the most successful businessman in the entire world. Twice as successful as the second most successful businessman. In my opinion there's just no way to convincingly gloss it over to realistically portray him as a stoned out idiot who happened to fall into making nearly half a trillion dollars. It just doesn't wash objectively speaking.

Successful business people make money. The more successful someone is, the more money they make. The success of a business is based on how much money it makes. It's pretty much all about money.

“Objectively”? There’s nothing “objective” about your take. It’s merely conjecture on your part that, conveniently, ignores the details of the timeline I described. His successes came before he got hopped up on drugs. Since then, he’s had a string of blunders.

Agree.
It also ignores the fact that Musk was born with a proverbial silver spoon in his mouth and presumably an emerald mine in his pocket.
That wealth begats even more wealth is no mystery.

It speaks to the importance a materialistic society places on wealth, as-if being rich makes one above reproach in and of itself.
I find it sad. YMMV.

True - but that doesn't mean is usage hasn't increased in the last few years. He as the point where he will continue to be obscenely rich for the rest of his life even if does nothing else productive the rest of his days.

Look at Bezos. Another very successful business man. He still makes roughly 7.9 million per hour despite spending most of his time these days partying with girlfriend and having rocket contests with Musk.

I can't dispute Musk's success and brilliance. But he wouldn't be the first to be undone by his own shortcomings after reaching the heights of success.

When I looked it up March 2nd, his net worth was 359 billion (posted here). It's now 429 billion. At that rate he will have achieved half a trillion dollars by or before the end of this year. That doesn't objectively, logically or realistically add up to drugged out business failure.

To be at least somewhat fair to the man, more than a few people who inherited wealth squandered it or lost it on a bad call.

Musk was making the right calls at the right time during the tech boom and had the money to do so. I don't know how much of that can be attributed to insight and how much to luck.

But none of that has anything to do with him consuming or not consuming drugs in the present.
