Sounds like his last year's are going to be full of painful urination.I read that it is because prostate cancer is majority of the time very slow growing and unlikely to spread far enough to become deadly when diagnosed over age 70. Most of the men will with this cancer but not from it. The biopsies and other treatment protocols do not provide enough benefit in balance with the stress and reduced quality of life during treatment to recommend.
Regular exams are still an option if the man chooses and I would assume the above recommendations do not apply to men diagnosed younger than 70 and are under surveillance for tumor spread.
