If there are many pagan gods born of virgins, among other coincidences with Jesus, how can we be sure that Christianity is the correct religion?

How can we know that Christianity can't be considered a plagiarism? Why should it be the religion of the true God?
No pagan god or goddess claimed to be the Creator of all things including man in His own image. This is the clear difference between a pagan god and the Judeo-Christian God.
Blessings

John 1:1-5 KJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Why should it be the religion of the true God?
Because we believe that Jesus rose from the dead. This gives the authority to both His claims and the first church claims about Him.

Also, when you compare the teachings of Christianity and the life and teachings of Christ, it is obviously superior compared to other religions or paganism.

Which pagan gods are claimed to have been born of virgin's?

Were any of them prophesied centuries in advance? Do any of their origin stories pre-date the Hebrew prophecies regarding the advent of Christ?

Consider that not just the birth of Christ was prophesied centuries in advance, but also the manner of His death as well as His rising back to life.

I fact-checked the first one - Hermes.

According to the myth, Hermes was born as the son of Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and Maia, a mountain nymph who was the daughter of the Titan Atlas. His birth took place in a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia, a region in southern Greece.

Nothing about a virgin birth on wikipedia. Why are you claiming such thing?

Hello schnauzer,

This is something I have contemplated on for years. It is a subject that is distressing and traumatic for any seeker of the truth. The list goes on and on. This is a situation that will divide those with faith from those who don't. What it has come down to, personally, is if this is an invention of man or God's doing? Who knows the ways in which God actually created the world, and what is it to man if this is the way he brought his son to earth? I believe Christianity is his plan, and this is the way he wants us to believe in his son.

It ignores other systems and beliefs. It even eventually distanced itself (oddly) from the Jews. Christianity itself was born out of the Jesus movement which was born pout of the Essene movement which was born out of the Hebrew movement and so on. What we have by way of religion and the Bible is basically from early on in Genesis, simply the story of the family of one man... Abram. Even Paul was Hellenistic in his views which were also Essene. So there is always influence as man tries to make sense of it all. Are there other gods? Of course, even we were said to have become gods, knowing the Knowledge. But there can only be one supreme God and that battle is still in progress. We've just taken a side because we believe the Father is the One.

The point is ... God gave us a command to follow (follow Him not other man or their ideas) and a way to live amongst each other. Do we need the details man has embellished it with?

What we can do is what I've always been doing, which is finding scholars who have actually studied this topic in depth and see (and compare) what they say.

This way, when we run into slop-job 'movies' on Youtube like, Zeitgeist, we'll know how to evaluate the extent to which certain alleged associations and similarities line up between pagan myths and the person of Jesus Christ.

After a quick scan with AI, none of these was a virgin birth. Though a couple were on December 25th.

I don't know where you get your information from, but I recommend you try other sources. None of those are claimed to be born of virgin's so I guess that should answer your doubts.

The accuracy of historic accounts matters. The events of history and the first account that we still have for that account is very accurate in Christianity as opposed to Greek gods, Persian and Babylonian deities etc.

Even the enemies of Christians in the first and second centuries admit that
1. Christ was crucified by the Romans.
2. The tomb was found to be empty
3. The disciples were crushed at first and then very evangelistic within mere days.
4. The Christians were tortured for believing that Christ has risen from the dead - and did not give up their faith.

It is a pretty hard argument to make that the contemporaries of Christ knew he was still dead yet were willing to be tortured and killed for saying the opposite.

And we have the many centuries old OT - making predictions about Christ.

In don't know of any pagan gods that were predicted to arrive on Earth centuries before their supposed incarnation/virgin-birth, with historic documents predating that god - showing the prediction exactly fulfilled.

========================

Out of curiosity how does this topic get put in Creation vs theistic evol? Is the idea that theistic evol is not Christian?

Thank you all. I'm sorry. I'm going through a crisis of disbelief, and desperation is driving me to unfair searches. Please pray for me. God bless
Hang in there saint.

James 5:11 KJV
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Has anyone else had power over death, rising from the dead?

Only the Holy Spirit can give you certainty here.

Free pass? Death for those of the Kingdom was defeated yes, but free pass? Only those who follow the will of the Father will enter and that is we serve Him and each other. He summed it up in 2 commandments. Ask the Lord lords where their free pass went.

Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.
