Well Trump is now saying that "we don't have to sign deals" and that "we don't care about their markets". Doesn't sound like he's negotiating deals soon.

Negotiating works both ways. President Trump can claim that other countries are eager to make a deal, but the reality is that all major and wealthy nations are standing firm and not engaging in negotiations with the United States.

The countries trying to negotiate zero import taxes with the US are developing nations whose economies may not survive without these deals.

This is why President Trump said, "We don't care about their market. Unlike last time, many strong and wealthy countries have realized that President Trump respects strength. Therefore, they will not simply agree to everything he desires.

Even then, almost 50 years ago, and even though PBS broadcasted his program, Buckley argued effectively that the government ought not fund television.

No, the point being made is that NPR and PBS exist only to indocrinate the people with the "leftist liberal agenda" and therefore they must be destroyed in order to "own the libs." I can't imagine a present-day conservative, especially a conservative Christian, being able to accept, or even understand an argument made by an intelligent, well-educated conservative like Buckley.
