  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The scariest part was when Sleepy Joe said "You won't have to vote anymore my beautiful Christians, I love you Christians, I'm a Christian."
Both Joe and Nancy's idea of Catholicism was disturbing to me.

Then I guess that posing as a fake Pope must be on an entirely a new level of disturbing. Don't you realise how bad this guy is making Christianity look?

When I was growing up in a very Christian family, Trump would held up as an example of what was wrong with the world. My mother and my priest and everyone else I knew would say that if I didn't live a good life then I might end up like this. Now he's a person that you admire?

What is wrong with the world that you have come to this!

Trump was the choice of most Christians over Kamala. It is my impression that a significant amount of Democrats were taught to just hate Trump and hate Fox News and really had rarely if ever heard either one. Had there been a neutral media I think his victory would have been ever more decisive among Christians. Trump embraced conservatism (commons sense) in running his campaign. The Biden administration approach to education and crime and gender identity and other issues went so far to the left that it repelled many Democrats and independents.

A post that completely avoids addressing the point I was making. I wasn't expecting you to address it so it's not like I'm surprised. Ignoring it is the only way to cope with it. But reality will bite soon enough.

I was brought up to distrust Democrats, obvious Russian propaganda, and people/organizations that constantly spread lies. That's why I dislike Trump and Fox News.

It was a joke - get over it.

Well, we had a really rough choice IMHO - Trump or a man who called himself a Christian and embraced everything his church stands against - Homosexuality, perversion and the murder of children in the womb. To the point that he was banned at his own church from receiving the Sacraments. Combine that with his strange attraction and acts of putting his hands on children and sniffing their hair - then there is his habit of swimming nude in front of female Secret Service agents. How about 20 shell companies than provided no services and made no products, but funneled millions and millions of dollars to his family members.

Christians had to hold their nose - they chose the lesser of two evils.

I think you have your facts all backwards. Please provide documentation where Biden said this. I think you'll find it was Trump who said "Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."
He added: "I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote,". This was reported by Reuters, https://www.reuters.com/world/us/tr...ont-have-vote-after-this-election-2024-07-27/, Fox5 in Washington DC, where Laura Ingraham gave Trump a chance to explain his remarks; Trump explains his Christians ‘won't have to vote again’ comments, and US News and World Report; https://www.usnews.com/news/world/a...ns-they-wont-have-to-vote-after-this-election among a host of other media outlets. You say it was "scary" when you claim that Biden said it, is it just as scary that Trump said it instead?

If it was indeed a joke (I'm not convinced it was, I didn't see any laughing emoji) you must admit it was in really bad taste. The loss of a Pope isn't exactly joking material in my opinion. I'm not Catholic but I believe that anyone's death is nothing to joke about. And what about the 53 million adult Catholics in the US? Do you think they are laughing? I guess your idea of a joke and mine are two different things.

If that was a joke, the poster had to assume that the reader knew who really said it. Do you really think that it's safe to say that right wingers would not take this as fact and run with it since it falls right in line with their already established confirmation bias? I figured I would set the record straight before it became the subject of right wing hoopla from those who believed it at face value. I wish folks would add a laughing emoji if they post something sarcastic that may not be seen as a joke by those who would like to believe it.

If you need a laughing emoji to understand the joke - it is most likely falling on deaf ears.

After all the things I've seen people post as truth, I always take everything with a grain of salt. Personally, I knew who said it but as I stated I don't know who didn't know that trump said it, so I reminded them just in case. I was hopeful that it was a joke as your previous posts don't indicate that you are a Trumper, but these days one never knows.

Yes, I am one of the 75,000,000 every day Americans who voted for President Trump. Who won the popular vote, the electoral college and every swing state.

The sheer animosity and vitriolic detestation from the left is falling on deaf ears that is why the Party itself is in chaos and experiencing the lowest approval rating in history.

Actually, it was 77,302, 580 and I am one of the 75,017,513 every day Americans who voted against Trump. I guess we're what you mean by "The Left"

Good riddance. I haven't been a Democrat since Hillary pushed Bernie aside for the nomination in 2016.

If you include "by a landslide" and "clear mandate of the American people" to this it sounds even more impressive.

Also weird capitalizing of Common Nouns helps too.
