  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Having already resurrected "Merry Christmas", President Trump will bring Columbus Day back from the ashes

However, reports of Columbus Day's demise, like that of Christmas, may be exaggerated.

The federal holiday, the second Monday in October, was still known as Columbus Day during Biden’s term, but also as Indigenous Peoples Day.

lol, Columbus Day becoming a federal holiday was the result of a bunch of lobbying by Italian-American lobbying groups who wanted the government to celebrate Italian heritage. At least we're keeping DEI for those of us who warrant it - i.e. us white men of European descent.

Which just shows with enough time any group can come to be considered white.

What about people of English heritage? Wheres our special holiday?
November 5th comes to mind, but try to come up with something earlier in the year. We definitely need another three day weekend in the summer.

No, man - we have all of March and April and nearly all of May with no holidays (outside of education type breaks which don't count as there aren't matching federal holidays for Easter/Spring break). Of course, now I'm retired it doesn't make a personal difference to me.

Good Friday is a market holiday. Veterans Day is not, oddly enough.
