I don’t think it’s that clear cut.

I’m sure there instances where women will agree based on belief they can compete or their sport doesn’t necessarily disadvantage based on biological sex.

However there’s so much social pressure to be ‘inclusive’ that I imagine many fear punitive action if they say they aren’t comfortable playing against men.
I agree. People who go to watch these events falles into one of three categories.

1. Feminist who want to give it another shot to prove to the world that women are just as strong as men in sports and will be left angry and disappointed.

2. People who know the men will dominate the women in such a humiliating way that they find it entertaining.

3. The children who were brought to the event by their parents who fall in category 1 or 2.

I pity those in category 1, and disapprove of those in category 2.

Is mixed sport a mystery to you? Marathons? Mixed doubles? Touch football? Equestrian events? Archery? Horse racing? Snooker?

I watched some of that competition (because of the connection with Wrexham) so I'm not in any of your categories. And I sincerely doubt that not many people would be. That's quite a puzzling and somewhat sad view of the world that you have there.

With regards to non-physical sports (like Billiards, Curling, stuff like that), I don't think it matters.

For other sports, concepts like mixed doubles actually an acknowledgement of the biological impacts on sports. They're a way that people from both sexes can have camaraderie around a specific sport, while still acknowledging that males are bigger and stronger and trying to account for that.

Even elite women's athletes will acknowledge the huge differences

Serena Williams described the difference being as vast as "Men's tennis is almost like a completely different game"

Although, the she used to not think that way and she got humbled a bit...

In a surprising match-up, German tennis player Karsten Braasch defeated both Serena and Venus Williams. Braasch, then ranked 203rd in the world, had taken the sisters up on a challenge they made after claiming they could beat any male player outside the top 200. He defeated Serena 6-1 and Venus 6-2.
(and onlookers had noted that Braasch had smoked a few cigarettes polished off a few "ice cold lagers" before the event)

Yes. I do not like seeing women being humiliated by men, even if they are asking for it.
What if there was a sport in which men possessed no particular physical advantage? Are you also opposed to sports which are officially co-ed?

No problem with that at all. When it comes to elite sport. But the event noted in the OP wasn't that. It was held for fun. Nobody went there thinking 'Yeah, we're going to show those women a thing or two!' or 'Men? We'll show them what the sisterhood can do!'

The US women's soccer team got creamed by the Wrexham side. That's because there is a serious difference in ability - not just athleticism. The girls were a lot fitter and faster that the guys. A couple of the ex players were well out of shape and hadn't played a serious game in years. They were even playing at something like 50% effort in an attempt not to embarrass the girls. It was a walk in the park. But no-one got bent out of shape.

Some women's sport I really enjoy. Women's rugby league and rugby union is excellent. Football (or soccer for some of you) is not. Women's tennis? Nah, I'd rather watch the men's (and if you want equal prize money then play the same number of games). Cricket? Yeah, excellent.

But the game being discussed. Much ado about nothing.

So we see that men as a class are better performing athletes than women....?

Im not seeing the controversy here.
There isn't one. It's manufactured.

Admittedly I don't follow soccer, so I can't tell if you're making a joke when you say "powerhouse" lol.

Wasn't sure if they were actually a good men's team, or if "powerhouse" was sarcastic, and highlighting that even the worst mens team can easily beat the best women's team.

Ultimately, this desperate attempt to try to downplay the biological difference between males and females (because it helps further narratives about other gender related discussions) ends up making one side look silly.

I mentioned it before, but progressives are basically giftwrapping an 80/20 issue and giving it to conservatives because they refuse to acknowledge any nuance on this topic.
Wrexham AFC are towards the top of the second flight of Anglo-Welsh football, but the Red Dragons isn't their first team, it's a mixture of a social/veterans team with a few of their youth players to fill in the gaps. In their prime the majority would've been fairly good, but their prime was a while ago

Some people simply do not understand playing sports just for the fun of it!

50 years ago there was a standing pickup Rugby match near me every summer. Aside from completely disregarding the limits on substitution playing quarters and the like, it was at a fairly high level once play started.

At one point I was playing hooker and in a scrum I realized one of my props was a member of the U.S. National team and the other had first seen a rugby ball less than an hour earlier. No problem, we were all out there for fun. If it had been win at all costs someone would have gotten badly hurt.

I have not seen anything claiming there was a trans person of any kind competing in this tournament!
Sorry, force of habit. Usually, some conservatives only get their panties in a twist when there are transgender people involved.

When I was in high school in the 50's, volleyball was a co-ed PE unit and nobody had any problem with it.

I would have, but for an unexpected reason. At my high school it was played on asphalt, which pretty much meant no diving saves.

I have seen coed volleyball played in a competitive but fun way. I've also (rarely) seen it played in a way where the women only touched the ball when serving or receiving serve. For some strange reason that meant the women did not opt for a second game.

Long distance swimming and women's acrobatics - there may be others.

Look at the top records for men's long distance swimming and compare it to the women's records. While you are at it, look at all sports and find an example in which the woman's record exceeds that of the men's.

Can you name one sport in which men possessed no particular physical advantage? Co-ed sports are a grey area for me. But statistically, the team with the most women will be most disadvantaged.
