Question is, how long before the left goes after him for saying good things about Trump?

I tried to find out what district he's in. He's a Republican who ran for Congress and lost. So of course he found it easier to talk to Trump.

Bill Maher is a liberal comedian and political talk show host well known for his outspoken views on Trump and his disastrous policies and performance as president. I doubt one single interview with the president going well has changed his opinion on his policies and politics very much.

Not fond of Maher's comedic style but I could see him vibe-ing a little more with Trump.

Maher has been sort of playing to both sides for a few years now, at least since 2020. There’s a reason younger people have been calling him boom-Maher for some time now.

IIRC, the average age of a viewer of The Daily Show is north of 60 - basically, the original audience stuck with them while younger viewers went to other things. I wonder, if The Daily Show’s audience is that old, and Bill Maher has a similar show that predates TDS’ political era by nearly a decade, how old are his viewers?

This. The only folks I see bringing him up these days are conservatives.

I listened to some of this segment and…. Ok, Trump is personable in private. So what? If I was voting for someone to hang out with, maybe that would be a factor I’d consider.

As far as who took his criticism better, maybe Obama and Clinton were smart enough to tell that his critiques weren’t especially insightful.

I can see why he would. He was always known for being bit crude. "Politically incorrect" you might say. He was also a mid-level intellect, and clearly Obama and Clinton are more intellectual.

The bill Bill Maher under discussion never ran for congress as far as I can tell, as either a Republican or Democrat, so I'm not sure where this is coming from. Is there some other guy named that who ran for congress? There are a few politicians I found named Bill Maher or William Maher, but none of them ran for congress as a Republican (e.g. there was a Bill Maher in Arizona who ran, but it was for state congress and as a member of the Green Party)

I know you in a follow up post mention you realize he's the talk show guy, but I'm curious why you thought he ran for Republican and lost. Was there someone with a similar name you were mixing him up with?

Huh, you're right. I mentally filled in Bill because there isn't anyone with that name more notable, but the original post really should've specified Bill Maher to avoid confusion (particularly as it doesn't link to any article).
