Funny, I dont remember saying anything about trade deficits. Practically every country has tariffs on American goods. If tariffs are so bad, why does every other country have them?
This appears to be a post parroting talking points designed to intentionally confuse tariffs on specific industries with Trump's failing attempts at blanket tariffs on every trading partner (excluding Russia) of the US.

Remember when Chuck Schumer called for a 27% tariff on China in 2005 and when Nancy Pelosi argued against China in 1996?
Or when a post relied on out of context quotes from decades ago to try and ignore the very real damage Trump's policies have for real Americans right now?

Trump owns a vineyard, Trump Winery which means any tariff on wine and champagne will benefit his own business. Since he neither divested nor put anything into a blind trust, he is fully aware of this conflict of interest.

Sure, it's minor compared to his meme coin and forcing the government to pay a premium into his venues during his very frequent visists, but still, it is one more thing....

How would tariffs benefit his wine business? Tariffs go to the government, not the business.

wich I think makes him pure evil.

If he has no interest in balancing the budget, then whats the purpose of cutting stuff to the poor, obviously not to pay for tax cuts as those are more then he removes. It comes off as just being evil and cruel for the sake of it. it's like robbing a guy so you have enough money to have money you then use to rob a bank.

and not listening to the Ap wich is right here, but like you said, if he isn't paying attention tot he AP why not his bosses that are opposed t this stupidity.
What cuts exactly are you referring to?

In theory, if tariffs on foreign wine are increased, then domestic wineries (including Trump's) would see a boost in business. I agree it's a bit of a stretch though.

It's probably not a material effect on his fortune, but it would be a help to him.

Conversely, given that the amount of French or Italian people buying TRUMP WINE is probably zero, the tariffs against the US don't hurt him. (Unlike, say, California wines.)

He doesn't really think that. What he thinks (i.e., KNOWS) is that if he tells his base that often enough (24/7), they will buy into it..... at least until his tarriffs bite THEM in the butt. After all, they bought into him reducing inflation and driving down high prices on DAY 1. Now the song is "pain in the short term and riches, riches, riches in the long term." Let's see how long a short term lasts. When that short term goes on for months and months and evaporates people's 401-K's and eggs, meat and liquor increase by 25-30%, I think we will see a revolt like never before.
It’s exactly this mentality that has led to the US paying more tariffs than the other countries we trade with. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said the same exact thing years ago that Trump is saying now. Yeah prices are going to rise but you can’t win a fight if you’re too afraid to take a hit. I’m glad we have a president that has a spine and isn’t too afraid to make some waves to get things done because he’s more concerned with being reelected.

So how is this a bad thing?

Sounds like Democrats are just jealous that Trump is actually doing the things other politicians have been giving lip service.

Any time a government official influences or creates policy which could have a direct effect on their own personal wealth, that represents a conflict of interest.

Random made up assertions like this is no way to run economic policy.
Absurd! The debt of this nation is not a random made up assertion. Those who ignore it and down play its danger need to go back to economics 101.

Hey! Don't disrespect quotes from past decades, new stuff is hard to come up with and I personally think it's cool that we can still yell "Hillary's Server!" And have it be accepted.

I happen to know a little about American wineries since I own a part of one. How were wineries being affected?

Well according to some in this thread, they predict that your business will do better if Trump raises the tariff on imported wines. It makes sense to me.
