Trump terminates program tracking mass abductions of Ukrainian children​

Observers fear the move has compromised evidence of war crimes by Russian officials and will hinder efforts to rescue thousands of missing Ukrainian children.

The move has barred the transmission of evidence to prosecutors pursuing multiple criminal cases, including the International Criminal Court’s landmark indictment of Russian President Vladimir Putin for what it has called the “unlawful transfer” of children from occupied areas of Ukraine, U.S. officials said.

“We have reason to believe that the data from the repository has been permanently deleted,” a group of lawmakers led by Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) warned in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “If true, this would have devastating consequences.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said any agreement to stop the fighting must include Russia’s return of missing Ukrainian children and accountability for those responsible for their abduction. Rubio also recently told reporters that the return of the children would be an important issue to “unravel.”

The forced relocation of Ukrainian children to Russia or deeper into Russian-controlled territory has become one of the most fraught issues over the past three years of the war. In 2022, Putin issued a decree making it quicker and easier for Russians to adopt Ukrainian children. Lvova-Belova is among the Russians who have adopted a Ukrainian child since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The thing is, they all exclusively watch far right propaganda "news" sources. They have no idea what is actually going on.
These threads here are to laydown in quickly consumable packets facts not only for them but also for us, as time goes on, with so much noise on a daily basis it is easy to forget this stuff.

I appreciate it and I agree 100%. In reflection, from his first term, The Daily Show managed to do a "Top 100 CRAZY stuff". and they said they still left a bunch of stuff off.

As we know, the formula use for the "reciprocal" taxes is Trade Deficit percentage divided by 2

So in light of that, here is the list of countries USA has a trade deficit with.

It should be noted that USA has a deficit with Russia, and a surplus with Ukraine, however Ukraine is on the "reciprocal" tariff list and Russia is not.
Other countries not on the tariff list are Mexico and Germany, for some reason it seems the Trump administration have manually massaged the list for these oddities. Certainly Russia being left off the list, was a conscious decision.
