Basically, what you are saying is God forbid Trump is successful for the good of the country. As long as people "snap out of their Trump worship." I believe that meets the standard of hating Trump more than you love your country.
Success for him is bad for (most of) us on balance. And so I hope he fails.
I wish him and the nation every success (I live here). But he has long announced his plans to institute these tariffs, despite the advice of virtually all economists (and my own humble advice). He held his press conference the other day to declare all of those economists wrong.
If we agree he looks bad I’d call that progress.

I believe Trump's end state is other countries will drop their tariffs. Trump didn't start the tariff war. The United States is probably the most tariffed country in the world.
No, I've come to terms with the worship. If the nation prospers, I can do 4 more years of that standing on my head.
