  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes. I agree gas prices are volatile. In fact they really don't have anything to do with what a president does nor doesn't do. And No, the average is in fact 3.128 as of yesterday. If one is going to argue prices are lower, and again yes they are volatile, then those claims should be supported with real up to date data. This is fact of "yesterdays" or "today's current price:

"Maybe" it's $3.081 today won't do either.
Again, the article is from two weeks ago.

Gas prices in West Michigan reverse dropped another $0.21. Down to $3.19.
People are saying that Trump is lowering the price of gas to the point that no one will be able to afford it and will all buy Teslas.
View attachment 362578

Now I know some Socialist Hate America Communist Nazi's will say that the price is closer to $3.20 in order to make President Trump look bad, but remember, these godless hooligans use science to discredit Conservatives and math is a science, and the price is clearly $3.19.
Gas in West Michigan reverse dropped another twenty cents to a new low of $3.29 and diesel reverse dropped another massive $0.60 to a low of $3.59!

The economic recovery has begun!

Our gas went up last month and is now going down, still higher than its recent lows.
My guess is that Trump will let the economy plummet and in October, 2026 before midterms he'll send out those $5K tariff bonuses--hoping voters will forget about two years of angst and misery.
Don't fall for it, America.

My Commonwealth (PA) might be ahead of the curve, but the PTB instituted a surcharge for EV owners ($250/yr) to pay for the missing “gas tax” revenue they’d’ve otherwise paid if they had had an ICE vehicle.
I'll be going through PA Wednesday which means top off in Virginia and Ohio.

Arkansas is doing that for EVs and hybrids because the gas tax is used to repair and build roads.

Yea, Arizona is planing to do the same. In 2022, the state stopped giving a break to EV owners on their annual registration fees (in AZ, registration is based on the value of one's car. For a 40k vehicle, that can be 400-500 dollars. OTH, we have no toll roads.)

Obviously, because you get a side of armadillo with the omelet.

I counted 3 javelina, 2 coyotes and 1 deer (all I-10 road kill) on a recent road trip from San Antonio to Phoenix (at least there were no tolls on the Texas portion of I-10....yet.

Some of that would make good jerky.

I was in San Antonio for a meeting at the convention center (never again, convention people are a different kind of people) and took a tour of the Alamo. One of the tourists, about 5 years younger than me asked the guide why didn’t the Texans shoot the Mexican Army from the tall buildings over there instead of fighting in a park. It was then, July 2004, that I knew we were doomed.

I heard that the guy also wanted to know why Jim Bowie was named after a knife.

I thought that was David Bowie.
That was just his stage name. His real name was apparently David Brotmesser. He didn't think it had the right ring to it. True story...
