Trump stated yesterday that he had no knowledge of the group chat. Gabbard stated the incident was under review by the NSC....(or that's her cover story anyway).
Perhaps, Trump should consult Musk on the security of communications, especially in the 2 hours before an attack.

Note: The Senate Intelligence Committee was previously schedule to meet today for a review of the global threats faced by our nation. No one anticipated the major threat just may be the sloppy communications by his administration.

Vice-Chair Sen Warner, in his opening remarks, addressed the Signal chat incident...starting at 19:20:

Sen King....

Gabbard was responding to a question from Independent Sen. Angus King during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. King said he didn’t intend to discuss the chat that was the subject of a story in The Atlantic on Monday but decided to push Gabbard after she said it contained no classified information.

The Atlantic reported that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth included sensitive military information in the group chat.

“Senator, I can attest to the fact that there were no classified or intelligence equities that were included in that chat group at any time,” Gabbard told the committee, prompting King to ask: “So the attack sequencing and timing and weapons and targets you don’t consider to, should have been classified?”
Gabbard responded: “I defer to the secretary of defense and the National Security Council on that question.”

Another log on the fire as why a Trump presidency is a threat to the security of the nation.

Time and time again Trump himself and now his cabinet have proved they can't protect crucial classified data. We share intel with our Five Eye nations. So given this latest kerfuffle, Trump boasting top secrets on more than one occasion putting assets at risk, his stealing and illegal retention of classified data, those Five Eye nations you can bet are questioning if it's safe to share anything with this administration. Or if they do share, think really hard how to go about it. They sure would take pause if that critical data to share regards Putin. In my mind, there is no doubt his election puts risk to our national security.

Do I remember reading a couple of days ago, that in the true spirit of petty vindictiveness we've all come to know and love the orange buffoon had pulled the security clearance of some of his rivals and critics?

Given this debacle I would imagine that any allied intelligence agency would have gone from thinking long and hard about sharing anything sensitive with the US (based on trying to start a trade war with pretty much everyone, abandoning commitments etc) to not really having to think about it at all.

...not only our allies.
The military chain of command will not be putting our service member's lives at risk by sharing operational details with the Secretary of Defense.

Signal is secure for your average hacker. I would not have the same assumption for a state actor.

Alas, we now know the Trump Administration is making consequential decisions (military action) on a platform that could be compromised and provides no official record of their action.
there is a reason when I sent private senative information I double, tripple and quadruple make sure it's to the right person :> But still mess up ocasionally hehe, tried to send myself a copy of a rp on a program to myself :> Not realizing that the program is designed so you can send messages as normal in it, if you use : at the start :> ended up spamming half the rp to the room I was in hehe. Thankfully nothing big, but this is why you should be careful about what you use for sensative stuff.

It seems to me that any type of confidential information or conversation should only be sent on a secure gov system. How does a something like Signal even get of gov issued communication devices? How does someone so easily get added to such a conversation? If what was reported is true Pete needs to get his backside chewed up and spit out by Trump and then sent on a national 'mea culpa' tour.

I doubt they were using government communication devices.

Before the Senate IC, CIA Dir. John Ratcliffe stated that Signal has been used by the CIA for some time...but for specified use, namely, the coordination of principles (I'm paraphrasing). However, any discussion of sensitive information (presumably, a decision to strike another country and details thereof) should take place using higher security (government) communication channels.

This was not good at all. What a huge error of all those involved. This was a breech of security and a big miss. We know that leaks happen. But a self created leak is not good. This needs to be addressed and im sure it will be. In the end it had no effect on the actual mission, thankfully. So a huge lesson learned for the future.

If that is so that makes it even worse.
In today's world this outlines the problems of cell phones. Its far to easy to communicate and it becomes too easy just to use. In the old days people had to gather face to face to talk or even use conference calling. Less likely to get screwed up.

Thanks should be given to Jeffrey Goldberg for keeping his silence until after the mission, and even more for alerting the public about this.

And still not releasing the entire text - which, reading between the lines, might have some information about assets on the ground who would probably be candidates for a Chicago smile if the Houthis could identify and get hold of.
