  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump says slashing grocery prices will be ‘very hard’

The US under Biden reduced worldwide inflation from that 9% down to normal rates faster than any other developed nation.
That wouldn't have happened under Trump.
If Trump has no plan to find replacement workers for the deportees, and he doesn't; if Trump has no plan to blunt price increases and the lost of jobs given impending tariffs, and he doesn't; then a year from now prices are going to increase and jobs lost. You can take that to the bank simply because that's what happened last Trump term.
let's compare in 2026

Yeah, he waited 3 and 1/2 years do anything while gaslighting the public and saying he couldn't do anything without congress
Or perhaps the problem isn't as straightforward as simplistic approaches might try to make it out to be. Getting back to the topic, we'll find out when the effects 50%+ absenteeism from food production jobs works its way through the supply chain.

Who will pick our cotton?
Sounds like the food production industry needs to be investigated for employing illegal workers

Yeah, I'm sure everyone involved will be shocked it is going on.
The problem is how to fix it without killing food production in the US.

But again, there's no shortage of attempts to sell simplistic answers to a complex problem like this. Too bad people fall for that.

I'm sure farmers are resourceful.
They'll figure it out

Since the Biden-Harris Administration took executive action in June, there has been a significant and sustained decrease in unlawful border crossings – including a 60% decrease in encounters between ports of entry along the southwest border from May to December. November and December encounters between ports of entry are now at their lowest level since August 2020 and lower than the monthly average for 2019.
They were running for re-election, so not surprising. Had Kamala won, it would be back to open borders as usual.

I see posts are already appealing to making stuff up about Trump's opponent as cover for his actions. He must be failing quicker than expected.

I already said that I expect that things will get worse before they get better- it happened when Reagan took office, and I won't be shocked if it happens this time as well.

There's been a lot of phony - baloney going on the last 6 years, to prop up Democrats/ deep state minions, to keep them in power. It's all going to come crashing down.

I notice there's no actual examples provided. Perhaps there is something to the idea that it is better to be vague rather than post claims specific enough to be proven wrong using data.

I think it might be worth mentioning that Trump didn't think that. He kept telling you that it was all going to be sunshine and roses from Day 1. But I guess that his comments along the lines of 'Gee, this is a lot harder than anyone thought' on various matters is bringing home the fact that yeah, it is actually going to get worse. Reality has this tendency to smack you upside the head now and then to bring the flights of fancy back to earth in short order.

And 'I knew it was going to get worse already' will be the only response available.

I don't know about that. Why isn't "wow, the facts show that voting for the guy is was a mistake" available to Trump voters?

Trump supporters do not appear to be interested in facts or reality, only Trump's "alternative facts". It seems as if Trump is the one who bestows and judges all that is right, truthful, moral, and holy to his supporters.

And thus begins yet again the strange Trump-induced malady wherein everyone on the left hangs on the most insignificant statements that Trump makes, raising mountains out of molehills. Maybe we should tone down the obsession this time around. Trump has been doing this sort of thing for decades. If you're shocked or outraged that Trump said he will lower grocery prices but it will be hard, you've been living under a rock. New hobbies are a great thing.
Best thing to do is ignore him since we cannot undo his damage and most of what he says is false anyway.

We've made some progress! Trump has a plan to lower prices! But it's a secret.

White House mum on price relief measures as inflation stings Trump’s ratings

On his first day in office, President Donald Trump pointedly signed an “emergency” executive order directing agencies to take steps to reduce the cost of living and requiring his top economic adviser to report back on the progress within 30 days.

Forty-four days later, the White House said there is no formal report, just conversations between Trump and National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett.

“The president knows his plans,” a White House official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the official wasn’t authorized to speak publicly. The official declined to provide further details and referred further questions to various federal agencies. Hassett did not respond to requests for comment.

[Maybe it's more of a concept of a plan.]

Yep. IMO, regardless of who is in the white house, a financial day of reckoning is approaching.

The only difference is; Kamala would have locked down the country, and "Finish the job" as the previous guy would say.

A Trump administration still gives America a fighting chance.

Why ever would you think that?
She would have been phase 3 of the "fundemental transformation" ; you know the thing - " never let a crisis go to waste "

The entire country, sans the Reid Hoffman types, would be on UBI, provided they did the masters bidding

No, I don't know the thing.
