  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why have refugees with temporary protected status been deported? These are people fleeing for their lives who cannot return. We offered them shelter in the Biden years--as we are morally, ethically, and spiritually obligated to do. To our shame, we often accept fewer refugees than other countries.
During Trump's first term, we did not take in any Syrian refugees at all, despite an international crisis.

And this is probably the main reason he was elected. And he's had months to devise a plan (or at least the concept of a plan). And ICE has been working flat out. Yet from here: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/tr...utes-expand-immigration-crackdown-2025-02-21/

'U.S. President Donald Trump deported 37,660 people during his first month in office...'

So, let me see. Divide this by that, carry the one...and he'll get that all done by 2049.
I think with proper enforcement, illegal aliens will no longer be able to find a home, get a job, receive entitlements, or receive healthcare. Then there will be mass self-deportations. Meaning, they will realize that life was better where they came from and return home, or try to illegally enter another country.

The right railing against "thieves who snuck in by the back window" and criminals (and just, like, regular people with families) entering the country illegally after electing a literal convicted felon to the highest office in the country will never not be funny to me. ...and sad.

...and an employer who hired these "criminals" to work at his resort properties.

Speaking of which, where is the crackdown on employers?

ISIS was largely diminished under Trump so less people had to be refugees. ISIS re-emerged at the end of the previous syndicate administration. Maybe there is a trafficking industry out there that depends on endless migration and pretends to be safeguarding vulnerable people.

And countries like France, Germany, Italy, and UK regret taking the Syrian refugees and did a political 180 to the right as a result. The country doesn't need anymore ungrateful Ilan Omars.

That's patentedly false. USA takes in the highest amount of refugees in the world.

As of mid-2024, Iran was the largest refugee-hosting country in the world. According to data available by the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR, there were nearly 3.8 million refugees in Iran. Turkey was second with more than 3.1 million.Jan 30, 2025

...as a percentage of the receiving country's population:

The US is not on any of these list.

And currently, the US is not accepting any refugees pursuant to Trump's EO:

Sec. 3. Realignment of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. (a) I hereby proclaim, pursuant to sections 212(f) and 215(a) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1182(f) and 1185(a), that entry into the United States of refugees under the USRAP would be detrimental to the interests of the United States. I therefore direct that entry into the United States of refugees under the USRAP be suspended — subject to the exceptions set forth in subsection (c) of this section — until a finding is made in accordance with section 4 of this order. This suspension shall take effect at 12:01 am eastern standard time on January 27, 2025.

No, we're a nation of laws.
Yes, and the laws of due process are about the citizens, not those who entered illegally. They should be expelled, but for the extreme cases of freedom from tyranny —vetted refugees. But even those are by generosity, and not by intrinsic right.

Frankly, it is those 'public servants' who welcomed the illegals who should be prosecuted.

Who was the left’s Rush Limbaugh, would you say?
There was none. "Symbolism over substance" is boring. They did try, though, and it was much touted, for a little while. I don't remember any names.

The US Congress had every opportunity to modify the nation's asylum laws....laws which were exploited by Cartels to traffic people.

Lies. US has taken in more refugees in the past few decades than any other country in the world. Iran isn't taking ANY Gaza refugees.

Nobody is taking Gaza refugees as far as I am aware. I can only imagine why.

Whatever. Revel in your own reality.
Just tell me where all those refugees are coming from. I didn't realize Iran was the land of opportunity and prosperity. LOL

Afganistan.
Iran hosts one of the largest migrant and refugee populations in the world, primarily composed of Afghan nationals who have fled Afghanistan over the past four decades, a large portion of whom are undocumented

US took in millions of refugees in the past 4 years and you're telling me it's not even in the top 10 for refugees received list per country? Please. That list is by demographic percentage not per capita. Not amount of actual persons who immigrated.
