  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Your phrasing is ambiguous, but I assume that by "they" you mean the writers and ratifiers of the Fourteenth Amendment. But you assert this based on what? They certainly drew no such distinctions in the discussions over it in Congress.

The children of both should gain citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment.

EDIT: I originally wrote a lot more, but after posting, noted the people complaining about this being off topic. So I cut down considerably on my post as a result.
I'm simply saying that how one looks at the 14th Amendment is subject to interpretation. The writers never envision illegals running across the border to claim citizenship. The 14th Amendment needs clarification.

Aren't you glad Biden reduced the inflation from the Trump Recession?

What's the price of eggs again?
Given that 100 million chickens were destroyed because of the "bird flu", it will take time to restock.

Seems like 2022 was a bad year.

The founders also didn't envision negro slaves getting citizenship.

Consumer confidence falls the most since 2021 over fears about inflation and tariffs

A report from the Conference Board Tuesday showed the sharpest one-month drop in confidence since August 2021.

[From the report itself: “This is the third consecutive month on month decline, bringing the Index to the bottom of the range that has prevailed since 2022. ]

The Conference Board is a non-partisan think tank that conducts regular surveys on the economy. Its confidence index for February echoes a similar report on consumer sentiment from the University of Michigan last week.

It's funny how inflation going down in January is Biden's success. Yet the "THIRD consecutive month" decline of confidence is Trump's fault.

Inflation rose in January.
Yet the "THIRD consecutive month" decline of confidence is Trump's fault.
Nobody blamed anybody. Well, okay, I didn't blame anybody. The article itself is also pretty indirect and multifaceted:

"This increase likely reflected a mix of factors, including sticky inflation [not Trump's fault] but also the recent jump in prices of key household staples like eggs [not Trump's fault] and the expected impact of tariffs [Trump's fault if it happens]," said Conference Board economist Stephanie Guichard. "There was a sharp increase in the mentions of trade and tariffs, back to a level unseen since 2019."

It’s ”Biden’s economy” until October 1 2025.

A note to everyone, please try to stay on topic so the mods don't have to close a thread that points out one of the great failures of the Trump Administration on inflation.

Just got back from a grocery run. Eggs are over $10 a dozen in AZ....

Trillions? Details?

Except the "budget" (continuing spending resolutions) that the House is trying to pass will add at least $2 trillion to the deficit, by the Republican's own numbers.

Yes, same here. Trump has only been in office 1 month. Give him time. He's rather busy at the moment.

Inflation is up to 3% over the last month.
According to the latest inflation statisics, in February inflation was 3.3%, January 3.2%, November 3.3%. It has be hoovering between 3.2-3.3% for since last June. So, no it is not "UP". It has been statistically the same since June 2023.

Oh, I'm under no illusion that the POTUS can force the price of eggs to be lowered - no matter who is in offce. OTH, the current POTUS can undermine our ability to contain the bird flu by cutting funds for research....
