  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I lost my confession notebook and it's bizarre when I found it

Hi, this is the third post I said I'd write today. A couple days ago, I was driving to Mass. When I had arrived there, I realized that I was missing my confession notebook, but that I had also left it on top of the car before I got into my car, and wondered where on earth could it possibly be anymore. I was prepared to declare it forever lost. I decided to take a different route home such that I'd enter the subdivision a different way than I normally would, and as I was going toward my house, about six houses down from me I see this piece of paper waving in the wind, sitting on the street, but I thought Nah, can't be that. As I came into my driveway, I thought, wait a minute, let me make sure it isn't that notebook. I drove back to the thing sitting in the street, got out of the car, and noticed that it was my confession notebook. It had been sitting in the street for 2 and a half hours. Unfortunately, it has been run over and the springs no longer work, but I was utterly relieved. If I had taken my usual route home and come into the other side of the subdivision, I would not have noticed it unless I chose to keep driving past my house.

Oh. I simply write down my sins in my own notebook so I don't forget them for confession.
After you are absolved, I do hope you destroy those papers. God forgives and “forgets.”

He is indeed merciful!

When I turned from sin and unto Christ, I no longer needed anything to remind me of my wicked past.
Friendly reminder, this is a Catholic sub forum.
