I remember having online debates about the law. I was ignorant of Scripture and God's will. I wanted to repent but i didn't know how. I quoted new testament Scripture that condemned sin. I was called a lawyer and a pharisee. I was just trying to learn and escape my sin. All those people did was confuse me.

I was confused and deeply hurt. My mind eventually got very sick. But Jesus saved me.

It was baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins that freed you from bondage to past sins. (Gal 5:24)
It was baptism that destroyed your old man (Rom 6:6) and it was baptism that allowed you to be raised with Christ to walk in newness of life ! (Rom 6:4)

The flesh, with the affections and lusts, have been crucified !

I see people getting baptized who never repent. I don't see how it changes anyone. It's done by the spirit and not by baptism ritual, if you ask me.

God's gift of the Holy Ghost doesn't do anything like "plant in the likeness of His death": but by submersion into water, planting is self evident.

That sounds serious. And Paul wasn't sent to do that? Baptism didn't help the Corinthians who were carnal infants and didn't act like spiritual people at all. Why didn't Baptism have power to change them?

Remember, not all the Corinthians were still committing sin.
Only one was actually called out...the fornicator.
The divisive and the one taking a brother to the courts were just ignorant of Christ's mind on such matters.

God gave us water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the destruction of the old man.
That enables us to hold to our turn from sin.

I believe its by faith and faith without works is dead. Thats why baptism doesn't change anyone. Everything is faith working by love.
