  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So far, at least nine (now ~40) (now ~160) judges, including Trump appointees, have called a halt to Trump executive actions

'He gets to make the decisions!' Jim Jordan argues Trump can ignore judges

"All I know is, again, Article Two, Section One, the very first sentence, 'The executive power shall be vested in a president,'" Jordan said, citing the Constitution. "I think it's important, 'a president of the United States of America,' not in bureaucrats, not in career people — in the president. The guy who put his name on the ballot."

Ol' Gym seems a bit confused about where most of that federal government comes from -- the law including the budget. Perhaps Jordan should read the first line of Article One,

All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

and then go see if he can find someone elected to that body.

As Trump pushes whirlwind agenda, DOJ is challenged to defend his orders in court

"In your opinion, is this executive order [eliminating birthright citizenship] constitutional?" U.S. District Judge John Coughenour asked Shumate during the hearing.

"Yes, we think it is," Shumate said, drawing the judge's rebuke.

"I have difficulty understanding how a member of the bar can state unequivocally that this is a constitutional order. It boggles my mind," Coughenour said. "Where were the lawyers when this decision was being made?"

A constitutional law expert told ABC News that DOJ attorneys have been rebuked by judges of all stripes.

"They are doing this regardless of geography and regardless of who appointed them," said Loyola Marymount University law professor Justin Levitt. "So you've seen pushback from Reagan appointees, you've seen pushback from Bush appointees, you've seen pushback from Obama appointees and Trump appointees and Biden appointees, and that's going to continue."

"As far as I can tell, [the Trump Administration is] winless in the courts," he said.

[Judge McConnell] saying it a bit louder that he wasn't kidding when he issued the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).

Trump administration refreezes some environmental grant money to Mass. despite judge's order

The on-again-off-again funding freeze saga continues in Massachusetts.

One day after a federal judge reiterated his order that the Trump administration immediately restore frozen funds across the country, two state environmental agencies say they no longer have access to millions of dollars awarded to them by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency during the Biden administration.

Following this order, Massachusetts state officials said that $230 million in frozen grants to the two environmental agencies was once again accessible in the federal funding portal used by states to request allocated funds.

Come Monday night, however, the DEP noted that two of its grants were “suspended” again in the portal. By Tuesday morning, the Solar For All grant was also “suspended.”

We all.knew the birthright thing was a long shot. Meh. It's no big deal. He's doing so.much.more that's good that is going to stick. It looks like the left is focusing on only certain things and letting so much more stand. I certainly look for more wins up.the road and a few loses too. He's doing things that he ptomised to do and we are happy with it. Go President Trump!

I have seen Amy Coney Barrett act with integrity and honesty. She is conservative, but she knows right from Trump's grievous wrongs.
Roberts values his legacy. Every historian in the country needs to send him drafts of their articles and books---so that he knows that by supporting Trump he will be right beside the Dred Scott decision justice in history. Let him do the right thing.
Eh, he’s working too fast for some? I can understand his critics

Taking unconstitutional shortcuts, ceding authority to a billionaire with colossal conflicts of interest--who has not been investigated nor given an oath to uphold the Constitution.
He's not acting "too fast." He's acting in violation of the Constitution .

I keep hearing this. What is this good that is being done?

Here's a list of almost his executive actions. These are all good. I'm sure you disagree with most of them if not all. And obviously some things he's done has come under suit by leftists. As expected. And it remains to be seen if they win on everything in the end. I suspect they will win a couple in the end. Most likely the birthright citizenship case.

But I think all of them are going to be good for America.

Judge McConnell is extremely biased against Trump. He should have recused himself.

Judge McConnell is extremely biased against Trump. He should have recused himself.
A quote from McConnell:

“It is in our view extremely difficult to formulate a constitutional theory to justify a refusal by the President to comply with a congressional directive to spend. Even the President does not have unilateral authority to refuse to spend” funds appropriated by Congress.'

That's plain enough. Do you think that shows bias? I'd say it shows a adherence to the constitution rather than a personal bias against Trump.

The Courts are going to have to champion Congress’ cause, (or the Republic is kaput) since the Congress seems bent on letting Trump control the purse that the House is MANDATED in the Constitution to control.

What’s “conservative” about that?

Ah, I see, yes poorly crafted Executive Orders are challenged in court all of the time, how many of Joe’s had been blocked by a court?
Several of President Joe Biden's executive orders have faced legal challenges and have been blocked by courts. For instance, a federal judge recently blocked parts of two executive orders related to gender-affirming care.

Mitch‘s term is up in ‘26, he’s not going to be allowed his swan song and serve out his term, so he‘s not going to “play nice”.

Right.
This happens fairly frequently. It’s “normal”. We don’t have to gin ourselves up over judges not allowing President Trump to act the King.

Mitch didn't say it. He quoted it. And who said it? Kavanaugh. Mconnell's decision was based on Kavanaugh's opinion on the matter.

It's also *Judge* McConnell quoting Justice Kavanaugh, not Sen. McConnell.

Thats why he's got an unheard of over 50% approval rating.

50% approval is LOW for a new president.

Presidential approval rates as of the 26th day of their presidency:

Trump II: 48.9%
Biden: 54.8%
Trump I: 44.5%
Obama: 63.9%
Bush (the younger): 52%
Clinton: 51.8%
Bush (the elder): 62%
Reagan: 51%.
Carter: 66%

Only 2 presidents under 50% - both of them Trump.

To be fair, he did win every time the Democrats ran a woman.
