  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Judge Hands Trump Admin Win On Federal Employee Payouts

U.S. District Judge George O’Toole Jr. on Wednesday dissolved his temporary freeze on the Trump administration’s plan to offer millions of federal employees a payout, according to a court filing.
In an email sent by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on Jan. 28, the Trump administration began its offer to federal employees of deferred compensation through Sept. 30, provided they submit their resignation notices by Feb. 6. O’Toole Jr. had set a temporary pause on the plan following a lawsuit filed on Feb. 4 by labor unions representing government employees, who claimed the action was unlawful.
However, within his ruling, O’Toole said that, despite the filing, the unions lacked legal standing to bring the suit.

Read the verdict. As a union, no standing. As an employee, they can sue individually.

Read the verdict. Yes, that was a rhetorical ask.

Lawsuits coming. Specially when people take the offer and they run out of money as one email noted, dependent on, "ability to pay its obligations under the contract on the ‘availability of appropriations." But on the other hand, why would someone take the offer when they can just wait to be fired, and earn the severance pay?

Is there a guarantee of severance?
